📍hopper cabin
07:34 AM"rise and shine," hopper said, opening his daughter's bedroom door.
josie was brushing her hair, exhausted from the previous night. she hadn't slept much when she returned home, instead thinking about steve and what he'd said. she concluded that he was drunk, and that it meant nothing.
el was laid in her bed, watching the girl get ready sleepily. she was still ignoring hopper and turned to her opposite side away from him when he entered the room.
"so that's it, huh?" he asked. "you're still not talking?"
josie glanced over at eleven, seeing her gripping the sheets stubbornly, an annoyed expression on her face and smiled in amusement.
"all right.." hopper sighed, beginning to walk out of the room. "i guess josie and i are just gonna have to, uh, enjoy this triple-decker eggo extravaganza on our own."
the older girl watched as eleven's eyes lit up at the mention of her beloved waffles. with a small sigh, el climbed out of bed, and her and josie followed hopper into the kitchen, taking a seat at their usual spots on the table.
the man grunted, cutting into the eggo stack and offering them to the girls, who picked a piece up on their forks.
"mmm!" he exclaimed enthusiastically. "good, right? know the great thing about it? it's only 8,000 calories."
eleven stared at him blankly, not amused whatsoever. the man sighed, looking down towards the floor at the tv wire which lead into josie's room. el had moved it into there whilst josie was at the party so she could watch tv, and visit mike.
"you visited him again last night?"
"he said he needs me," el replied softly.
"want me to go check on him?" the man wondered.
"josie already is," the girl responded, looking down sadly.
"i know that you miss him, all right? but it's too dangerous. you're the last thing he needs right now," hopper told her. "you're gonna see him. soon. and not just in that head of yours. you're gonna see him in real life. i feel like i'm making progress with these people."
eleven leant forwards. "friends don't lie."
"what?"
"you say 'soon' on day 21. you say 'soon' on day 205. you now say 'soon' on say 326?" the girl hissed, making josie glance down awkwardly. she could tell how much eleven missed mike.
"what is this?" hopper muttered. "you're like, counting the days now like you're some kind of prisoner?"
"when is 'soon'?" eleven asked.
"'soon' is when.. it's not dangerous anymore," he answered.
"when?"
he shook his head lightly. "i don't know."
"on day 500? on day 600? day 700? on day 800? i need to see him. tell me!" eleven screamed, tilting her head back and throwing the plate of food onto hopper with her mind.
"oh! shit! shit!" the man exclaimed, standing up.
"dad, just calm down.." josie spoke softly, knowing if he got angry he would only regret it and it would upset eleven more.
"friends don't lie!" eleven yelled, storming into josie's room and slamming the door behind her.
the man sighed, grabbing a cloth to wipe his clothes. "she's almost as bad as you were," he commented, referring to josie's early-teen emotional meltdowns.
