The walk back was quiet, neither of them knowing the right thing to say. They didn't go back invisible, walking in plain sight for everyone to see. This made Tommy seriously uncomfortable, all the eyes on him.

I mean, some of them were surprised Techno was still alive after going into the town, but that was reasonable. Who could kill him?

It was Tommy that everyone was concentrated on. It was a known fact that he died, and even if he was alive he wasn't necessarily aloud in L'manburg. Yet no one could act on it for the fact that Techno was there.

"Techno, I uh..I didn't mean for that to happen. I'm..sorry." Tommy spoke in a whisper, watching his feet as he walked. Techno looked over at him, seeing how guilty he looked.

"I don't know the whole story of what happened with you two, but from what I do know everything you said was deserved. Don't apologize for that." Techno brushed it off easily, not caring about it anymore. "Sides, sneaking into L'manburg is fun. They say whenever they see me they are going to kill me, but most of them don't even try."

"They are staring at us, you know." Tommy pointed out, watching some randoms out of the corner of his eye.

"It's fine, Tommy. Let them stare. Just walking here, you have more power than they do."

"What? How-"

"Don't question it, Tommy."

And Tommy didn't. They stayed in another prolonged silence until they got to the stairs leading to the main portal. They were already out of sight from anyone, so Tommy had calmed, but Techno looked worried.

"Tommy..Tommy wait here." He stopped him, advancing to the top of the stairs. This left the boy confused, standing in the middle of the steps alone. He wanted to ask ehy, but decided not to just in case.

"Techno?"

No. It couldn't be. I have to check. But Techno said- no, I need to see. This can't be real. I must be dreaming again.

He rushed up the stairs, peeking behind Techno. That damned man stood at the portal, blocking either of thier exits. His bright green sweatshirt made him stand out, the stupid mask covering most of his face.

Dream pushed the mask up a bit, making sure he was seeing this clearly.

"Tommy?" It came out more of a laugh, in complete and untter disbelief. Sure, he knew Tommy was with Techno, but he would never thought to of found him sneaking out of L'manburg.

Tommy's eyes widened and he weakly walked back, standing at the very edge of the top step, hiding behind Techno. He swore his heart just stopped, dropping dead on command.

"Hello, Dream." Techno didn't smile, just taking out a sword he (thankfully) had on him. He shielded off Tommy and him, putting his arm out to hit Tommy, only to make sure he was there. He would not look away.

Dream responded to that by doing the same, taking out his axe, letting it drop at his side. He examined the two, mostly Tommy, looking at their expressions to see how to react.

"What are you two doing here? I'm not sure of you knew this, Techno, but Tommy isn't exactly aloud back in L'manburg." He spoke calmly, professionally. He made sure not to talk to Tommy personally, knowing it would mess with his head a bit.

"I was well aware, Dream. We were just about to leave, thank you." Techno replied snarkily, having no time to deal with him. And he would not let this man get anywhere near Tommy.

"Theres a bit of a problem, Techno. Im sure you know that I have yo take him, don't you?" He held out his hand, making an offer. "So I'm kindly asking you to hand him over."
