Today is the day. All my hard work had finally payed off and I would be walking across a stage in just a few short hours, accepting my diploma.
Nat had helped me pick out the most beautiful white dress that went to mid thigh, with an open back. My signature gold jewelry adorned my tanned skin, along with some light makeup. As I finished adding the final touches to my look, Nat slid my gown over my shoulders and handed me my cap and tassels.
"Look at you. My little college graduate," she cooed, making eye contact with me in the mirror. I returned the gesture, kissing her cheek that rested on my shoulder.
"No more hiding each other away from the world," I smirked, turning around to look into her beautiful emerald eyes. "I can't wait," she replied, bringing me in for a tender kiss.
When we pulled away, we just gazed into each others eyes for a moment, soaking up everything that has happened within the last year to get us to this moment in time. "Come on love. We don't want to be late," she broke the silence. "Yes one last hoorah," I joked. "Dork," she mumbled, laughing softly before leading us to her car.
Once we arrived at the big auditorium, the two of us parted ways. It didn't take long for me to see my two idiot best friends, waving their hands frantically at me, with big smiles on their faces. I shook my head, slowly making my way over to them.
"Look what the cat dragged in," Jake smirked. "What? A sexy peace of meat," I grinned. He scoffed, "Well aren't you full of yourself."
"Alright dummies enough bickering. Y'all bitches ready to graduate?" Carol questioned. "Hell yeah!!" Me and Jake replied enthusiastically. "I know why you're excited Y/N," she grinned before turning to Jake, "but why are you?."
"Wooooow! I mean I know I don't have some hot professor wrapped around my finger like Y/N, but I do have a love life ya know." Jake scoffed. "Really?" I laughed, "so where's this mysterious boyfriend you've been hiding away from us huh?" "Yeah where is he?" Carol backed me up.
"You two are infuriating. Did you know that?" Jake stated. "Soo what I'm hearing is you don't have a Romeo?" I smirked, annoying him further. He rolled his eyes, flipping off me and Carol, causing the two of us to be in a fit of giggles.
Nat POV
After Y/N went to go sit with her friends, I was able to let my nerves take over. I didn't want to raise suspicion with her, because to her, there's no reason to be. I'm not the one walking across a stage in front of thousands of people. I just get to sit here and be proud of all my former students, especially my special girl.
A million thoughts were running through my head as I thought about what awaits after the graduation ceremony. She doesn't even know that my parents and sister are here, setting up the proposal for her.
I've put so much thought and consideration into this, more than I ever thought possible. This girl is everything to me, and I can't imagine doing life without her. All I can hope is she feels the same and will say yes. God I don't know what I would do if she said no. Stop don't think like that I said to myself. She loves me as I do her.
The tapping of the microphone got everyone's attention, causing the room to fall silent. "Good evening.." the President of the university started, but I blocked him out, searching for my favorite pair of y/e/c eyes. After a moment I found them and I knew in that moment, that everything will be alright.
Y/N POV
Me and Nat made eye contact shortly after the president began speaking and god I could get lost in those twinkling green eyes. I sent a soft smile in her direction before averting my gaze back to the speaker.
