THE HALLWAYS OF Midtown Science were quiet as the students and some teachers kept their eyes on the one quiet teenage boy who kept his head down low, knowing why they were exactly staring at him for, the incident definitely being on the news. Ben Parker, the uncle of Peter Parker, had tragically died on the streets from a gunshot and Peter had been the first to find him laying on the sidewalk with blood coming out of his wound.
By the time the teenager found him, the man had already passed from the loss of blood. No one bothered to say a word as they watched Peter Parker walk by them in the hallway, apologetic looks on their faces as they sent those expressions his way, silently sorry for the loss of his uncle. Peter didn't bother to pay attention to them, keeping his head down low, his uncle stuck on his mind.
The last he had spoken to his uncle, they had a fight after he had forgotten about picking up his aunt, which ended up for the woman to walk a couple blocks with groceries in her arms. Guilt coursed through Peter, thinking that if he hadn't ran out of the house during his argument with his uncle, then maybe he would still be here.
The brunette continued to avoid eye contact with everyone as he eventually stopped at his locker, opening it up while taking off his backpack. When the sound of Flash's voice called out to him, he sighed as he protested about the bullying for the day. However, when his bully placed his hand on his shoulder, claiming he just wanted to talk, Peter spun around and grabbed ahold of Flash's collar of his sweater, lifting his feet up from the floor while pinning him to the lockers.
Eyes wide as he didn't expect that a bit, Flash placed his hands on Peter's, hoping to speak to him and say sorry for his loss. Gasps could be heard as people in the hallways had stopped in their tracks at the sight. Near the end of the hall, Y/n had been walking with her sister when she noticed what was happening in front of them, both stopping and watching like everyone else had been doing.
"It feels better, right?" Flash breathes out. "Look, your uncle died. I'm sorry. I get it. I'm sorry."
Tears pooling in his brown eyes as he shook his head, disbelief coursing through him that the man who had practically became a father to him was dead and his bully wasn't bullying him for it, Peter slowly let his hands release from Flash's neck, hearing the boy whisper another sorry to him. Not bothering to say anything back, the boy reaches down and grabs his backpack, turning around and walking off in Y/n's direction.
The sound of her voice reached his ears as he stopped in front of her when she stepped towards her, and after that, her arms wrapped around his shoulders in a comforting hug. He didn't hug back and when she pulled away, he looked down and walked right by her, not needing to hear anymore apologies that he had heard from the police and even the teachers and principal. As he walked off, he felt Y/n's sad eyes watching him leave.
