The longest night of my life in recent memory is drawing to a close.

Humiwalay na si Ate Ivory sa akin at lumipat sa mesang kinauupuan ng ibang batchmates. May usapan daw sila nang mga kaibigang magkakasama uuwi ng dorm. I have a feeling she's lying about that, but I ignore it. She is already an adult. She was free to make her own decisions.

Mula naman sa mesang kinaroroonan ko, tahimik kong pinapanood ang mag-roommate na sina Orianna at Hazel na nagbubulungan sa hindi kalayuan. They appear to be arguing over something.

"Hindi na kita bati!" Orianna hissed at Hazel. Hazel's face crumpled in dismay.

I assumed Orie was joking, but I noticed a flash of pain and sadness in her eyes before she covered it up with a pout. Hazel's expression of remorse as she stares at Orie was the only thing that saved her from my wrath.

"Sorry na please," pakiusap nang matangkad na babae. She had her palm pressed together in prayer as her eyes begged Orie for mercy. "We didn't think you'll be interested. You didn't seem interested anything related to prom lately."

Orie huffed in disbelief. "And you couldn't take one measly second to text me and ask? Wala ka naman yata talagang balak na yayain ako, eh!"

Hazel pulled her in a tight hug. Napangiwi naman siya at pinipilit itulak ang roommate palayo pero ayaw bumitiw ng babae.

"Hindi, ah," tanggi ni Hazel. "Mag-iinuman lang naman kami doon. Hindi ka naman umiinom."

Orie rolled her eyes in exasperation. "I do."

"Alcoholic beverage ang iinumin namin, Anna. Red Horse. Smirnoff. Hindi milk."

"Alam ko and I do drink that."

Hazel looked at her, bemused. "No, you don't."

Oriana looked like she's about to disagree but thought better of it. Nalukot na lang ang ilong niya sa pagkadisgusto bago nagbanta. "Illegal ang magbenta ng alcohol sa minor. We are still minors."

"Hindi naman kami ang bumili," rason ni Hazel. "Kung gusto, palaging mayroong paraan." Kinindatan pa niya si Orianna at nginisihan. Orie didn't smile back.

"Exactly. Kung gusto mo talaga akong imbitahan, nahanapan mo nang paraan."

Hazel groaned. "Hindi mo na ba ako mapapatawad nito?"

Orie sniffed snootily. "Pag-isipan ko pa."

Hazel made a face.

"Nang matagal," Orianna added meaningfully.

Hazel pouted like a child. Sa tagal na rin nilng magkasama sa dorm, nahawaan na siya ng ibang mannerisms ni Orianna.

Orie crosses her arms in front of her and demanded, "Suyuin mo ako para mapabilis."

Na siya namang ginawa nga ni Hazel. The girl spent the time trying her best to get back in Orie's good graces. After some huffing and puffing, Orianna deigned to forgive her roommate.

That is when she finally noticed me. Her eyes brightened. Her smile was slow in coming, and when it did, I felt something inside my chest shift.

She happily skipped towards me as Hazel follows behind her. The other girl is grinning meaningfully at me. I ignored her.

Agad na umakbay sa akin si Orianna pagkalapit na pagkalapit niya. Sabay pa naming pinanood si Hazel na nakangising kumakaway at paatras na naglalakad palayo sa amin.
