tw: family problems mentioned

"hi." mattheo said brightly as i got into his car. it was an old black mazda with a dent on the side. the inside was very clean. the only thing you saw would be a pack of mint gum and a wrapper which looked like a condom. i mentally gagged inside.

"hello." we both stayed silent. "where are we going?"

"somewhere private."

"okay and where is that?"

"a drive in."

"you're taking me to a drive in? jesus christ martinez." i scoffed, trying to not sound too mean.

"not private enough for you?"

"i'm actually glad it's a drive in and not some alleyway."

he sighed, turning the car on and driving out of the small parking lot. "look, i'm sorry okay? i acted shitty this morning and i won't deny it. i like you. i like you a lot. and i want something to happen with us. i just don't want a fisher getting in between that."

"damn it martinez. you get so worked up and you need to let yourself calm down. i don't know you. i need to get to know you. will something happen? i don't know. but you can't just get away with being a bitch to conrad." i finally replied with annoyance in my voice.

"let me make it up then. let's just talk at the drive in, get to know eachother more in depth."

i simply ignored him and looked out the window. mattheo was a sweet guy to me, not anyone else. what if he ended up becoming a bitch at the end. i couldn't read him at all. for example, when i see jeremiah, i see a welcoming person, a kind personality. when i see steven i see an extroverted guy who is not afraid to say anything. same with belly, i see a kind girl waiting for her perfect moment to happen.

but not with mattheo martinez.

"family life?" the brunette boy asked, sipping some of his cherry slurpee.

"shitty. they're always busy and always fought at home. that's why summer was an escape. they would come and basically be forced to be nice to eachother."

"awe im sorry lori. are they here this summer?"

"no. apparently they have this big work opportunity but something is telling me that they are finalizing a divorce or something." i replied. i hated when people asked me about my parents. like i have to get reminded every time that my parents basically hate eachother. i have to get reminded that my mom became a fucking mess. and i have to get reminded that my dad doesn't care about anything. "enough about that though. tell me something about your family."
