Why did you leave me here to burn? I'm way too young to be this hurt

~ Camila Cabello

"Wake up, Carly."

I jolted and pulled back when someone put their hand on my arm. My eyes darted around before landing on Colby. His brown eyes were as bright as his smile.

"We're here!" He was jumping a little in his place, and it almost looked like he was doing the potty dance. "Come on!"

I slowly got out of the car and pulled the jacket closer around me. I stared in awe at the large building. It looked like a fancy hotel and it made me painfully aware that I was only wearing a miniskirt and a suit jacket.

"Don't worry." I looked up at Vittorio as he was grabbing his suitcase from the trunk. "I'm sure Mia would be fine with lending you some clothes."

I raised an eyebrow and tilted my head a little. "Mia?"

"Yeah," he said and shut the trunk, "Vince's wife."

I nodded and followed him as he started up the few steps to the door. I winced at each step but pushed through it. Vittorio threw open the large double doors and waited patiently.

"Ladies first." He waved an arm, signaling for me to walk in, so I did.

Inside, Colby and Dante were waiting for us. I stared at the white marble floors and pillars, shining under the large crystal chandeliers. The walls were kept in a cream color and a red carpet led from the door and up a flight of wide, elegant stairs. On each side of the staircase were a couple of archways, carved intricately in marble, leading to God knows where. Next to them resided a couple of elevators.

I jumped when a couple of doors at the top of the stairs flung open and a tall, wide-shouldered man walked through, wearing a suit that looked about as expensive as my entire wardrobe combined.

He sauntered down the stairs with a pearly white smile on his face. I stood frozen as he approached us. He looked just as intimidating as he looked cheerful. He was tall, almost as tall as Vittorio, and his dark brown hair was slicked neatly back. He looked to be in his late twenties, and his amber eyes seemed bright against his bronzed skin. His eyes resembled ones of a lion. Of a predator. Every one of his features seemed sharp and prominent.

I swallowed thickly when his eyes landed on me.

"Vince!" Vittorio walked to my side a little faster than he'd needed and took a step further, as though to bring me behind him. "I can explain."

"You must be Carlissa," the man smiled and offered me his hand. I took it and he placed a light kiss on the back of it with a wink. "I'm Vincenzo Lombardi. But you probably knew that."

I nodded and mustered up a small smile.

"Uncle Vitto!"

We all looked up at the outburst. A young girl, no older than five, came sprinting down the stairs at an alarming speed for her little legs. She ran straight up to Vittorio and lunged into his arms.

My eyes widened slightly at the uncharacteristic exchange. I'd seen him grin, but this kind of happiness was new to me.

He chuckled lightheartedly and hugged her tight. "Hi Rory," he smiled and brushed her wild curls out of her face.
