Both Higgins were rocking out to Shake me all night long by AC/DC as they pulled up with everyone else at the lake cabin. Zaylia always insisted on having control over music. Marcus didn't mind since she was musically cultured. Both their windows were down and Zaylia drove since her dad had a few glances of champagne at the memorial.
As she put the car in park, Marcus turned down the music and she pouted. She adored AC/DC with all her heart. That, Queen, Bon Jovi, the good rock shit. Both of them laughed as they got out the car and Dylan watched in clear amusement. He was almost certain he had met his dream girl.
"It's nice you drove your piggy bank here" Lenny comments on Robbie's car.
"Hey" Robbie glares.
"Hey" He mocks back.
"Damn, that's a nice cabin" Zaylia whistles as she takes in the nice stay for the weekend.
"Hey, Rob's car is an oompa loompa too" Marcus says making Zaylia laugh, recalling her previous comment.
Dylan swings his arm over Zaylia's shoulder as they walk to the front entrance. She gave him a look to which he smirked. She rolled her eyes, teyikg her best to contain the odd feeling in her stomach. The moth trap hanging from the ceiling zapped as a moth flew into it.
"Daddy, what's that machine doing?" Becky asks.
"Uh, it's getting rid of the moths, honey" Lenny replies.
"Where's it taking them?" She asks cluelessly.
"Hell" Marcus says earning a slap on the back of the head by Zaylia.
"Don't say that" She hisses.
"Oh I'm sorry not hell, Mexico"
"No, I-it's giving them electricity so the moths fall asleep e-electrically" Lenny says.
"It's electrocuting them?" Becky gaps.
"No, no, no"
"But, Daddy, they're dying!"
"It's killing them?!" Donna and Charlotte panic and Zaylia bites her bottom lip to hide her amused smile. Dads always sucked at this type of stuff.at us would just tell them that they were dying and then she would cry for a couple minutes. He would give her a popsicle and then all was good. Ahh....good times.
"No!" Lenny tried to calm them down.
"Daddy, no!" Becky yells.
"No, no, it's not. Okay? Let me adjust it" He says walking up and unplugging the trap.
"They're all, all right, I promise you. See? Look at this guy. Whee—" Lenny throws a moth and it falls to the ground like a feather.
"Oh my god" Zaylia face palms.
"—He's still sleeping"
"It's dead, dad. Ow!" Greg says and Dylan and Roxanne both pinch him at his comment.
"Ooh! A porch swing" Mama Ronzini says, knocking Keithie over and onto the ground. "I know what I'm doing this weekend" she laughs as she walks up the steps, stepping on the moth in the process.
"Now he's dead" Lenny gives up.
"Let's get inside, this heat is unbearable and we're all wearing black" Zaylia whines dramatically and everyone agrees.
"Smart girl. How's she related to you again?" Eric pats Higgins back.
"Yeah, yeah" He replies and Zayli giggles.
"Welcome back to 1978 everybody. The lake house" Robbie announces and everyone piles into the gorgeous cabin commenting on how nice it was.
"Nothing's changed. It's unbelievable"
"I don't remember it being this big" Marcus says.
"This is my kitchen. This is it, right now" Kurt says and Deanne rolls her eyes.
"Oh please, enough with the kitchen"
"Wow" Dylan breathes out as he looks around.
"I know right" Zaylia comments in just as much awe.
"Is this like an outward bound thing, dad?" The two spin around at the sound of young Greg's voice. Dylan sighs in exasperation.
"I mean, it's like an episode of Lost"
"Fucks sake" Dylan mumbles and pulls Zaylia away who covers her mouth as she laughs. There was a lot going on; Donna was banging furiously on the organ and the other kids were running around.
"So listen guys, who's getting what room?" Lenny gathers everyone's attention.
"Actually, I made a map of who gets which room. I took the liberty of reserving the room with the waterbed for Gloria and myself" Robbie announces.
"Ooh! You're gonna do the backstroke tonight" She sings. Zaylia and Dylan look at each other with horrified expressions
"I wanna go swimming with you guys tonight!" Donna gasps.
"Oh, honey, we're not really going swimming. What I meant was—"
"Oh no, that's okay. She doesn't need to know what you mean. I don't even know what you mean" Sally covers her innocent daughters ears.
"Oh I know what she meant" Zaylia mumbles and her and her father feign throwing up. Dylan buried his face in her neck in laughter and her body trembles at the close proximity.
Holy shit.
"Kay let's get back to the room picking. Rob, would you like to take us on a tour perhaps?" Sally changes the subject.
"Yeah, I'd love to show you a tour. Gloria was just trying to be cool" Robbie says and everyone begins talking over one another about what rooms they want. Everyone follows Robbie to a pair of doors.
"Okay, here's the big daddy. The master bedroom" He says and everyone coo's in awe.
"You know what? Lenny should have that. Lenny should have that" Eric says and Roxanne begins making her way towards it.
"Ohhh, no, no, no. Honey, honey, honey. Come on, let the kids have it. It's a fun time for the kids to be together and they can do kids' things. Come on, go share it. Share the master bedroom!" Lenny says and all the kids smile and rush into the room excited. Dylan and Zaylia begin walking towards it but Robbie stops them.
"Wait, Dylan, Zaylia, there's a bedroom attached to this one if you want it. I know being around the young ones can be a bit overwhelming. It's yours if you want it" He says. Zaylia frowns and looks at Dylan who shrugs.
"Are you sure?" She asks unsure.
"Yeah of course" He replies.
"Thanks" She smiles.
"Yeah, yeah just don't be doing anything in there Dylan" Marcus says pointedly and Dylan coughs.
"Dad!" Zaylia scolds in embarrassment and the adults laugh at their red faces. She looks up at Dylan and a small smirk takes over her face. She sure wouldn't mind anything happening in that room. Dylan licks his lips before pulling his gaze off her.
"Hey dad" Greg calls out and they all turn to him. "What's the big box attached to the back of the TV?"
"Um, that's the rest of the TV, dumbass" Dylan replies.
"Dylan, don't say that to your brother" Roxanne scolds.
"Yeah, they didn't always have flat screens there, sport" Lenny adds.
"Wow, that is some Stone Age shiznit" Keithie says.
"Jesus Christ" Dylan grumbles before pulling Zaylia to their room. She noticed he does that a lot, but she didn't mind. The door opens and the two walk in. The room was a fair size, a little bit smaller than the Master bedroom but big enough.
"Mmm, so much room for...activities" Zaylia smirks and Dylan whips his head to look at her. She almost laughs at his expression.
"What? I brought Monopoly, that's all" Her smirk widens when he curses under his breath.
Too, can play at that game. He thought.
