thrashing her school shoes against the concrete harder than she should have, y/n tightly gripped her school bag. she muttered aloud every so often, her eyebrows pushed together with annoyance. it seems like she was always annoyed these days.
"stupid smug todoroki." she lowly said. "thinks he's so kind giving me a book i deserved anyway."
she had finally won her book. but it was simply given to her. and she was too proud to admit that this was virtually the only way she'd be able to get it in the first place.
"why do you look so constipated?" a familiar raspy voice asked.
y/n's face unclenched as bakugo suddenly appeared beside her. she let loose a small smile. "says you! this is what you look all time. ask anyone in the school."
"like i'd care what any of those extras think." he bluntly answered, his face unnaturally calm. "you didn't answer me."
"should i be flattered you care so much or should i be concerned?" the young girl remarked, now walking with bakugo, a little closer than before.
upon not receiving a laugh, y/n sheepishly forced out a small chuckle. "so, tell more about that todoroki kid."
passing a small bakery, bakugou inched further away from the girl, perhaps unconsciously. "what else is there to know about him? he's some rich kid."
"that's basic information!" y/n whined. "i want stuff that only a close classmate could know. stuff that might help me get into 1a."
"taking him down has nothing to do with moving classes." bakugo argued, wanting to get off the topic of his icy classmate. "i'll train you since you can't you train yourself for shit."
"hey! i'm a very diligent and hardworking student!" the girl retorted, swinging her bag at his arm.
"oh, yeah?" the blonde asked, dodging her swing. "then you haven't got anything to lose."
"fine! but i'm only doing this for myself. not for you."
"same here! as if i do anything for an ice-loving creep!" the male yelled, cracking a smile.
"i'm not a creep! i'm just curious about certain parts of his life!"
as they continued walking and u/n continued blathering on about how she wasn't a creep, the blonde wondered why such a girl took such an interest in todoroki. did she like him? but she didn't seem like the rest of the swarm of girls that swooned over his every step. or at least, bakugo didn't want her to be like them.

pushing his rice around his plate with a fork, shoto sat by himself, his head full of thoughts of one girl. it was like she had taken over his mind. day and night, y/n was all he could think about. and he couldn't take his mind off how he had completely made a fool of himself in front of her on only their second interaction. it made him physically uncomfortable.
"shoto! why are you sitting all by yourself?" uraraka asked, popping up from behind him.
"no reason."
the chirpy brown haired girl plopped opposite his seat alongside midoriya and their class president, iida. "you didn't have lunch with us that one time as well!" she wondered aloud. "did we do something to upset you?"
"no, it's nothing like that." the todoroki confirmed, finally taking a bite of his lunch.
"if i didn't know about better, todoroki, i'd say you're thinking of someone." iida commented, pushing up his glasses' frame with his finger in a serious manner.
"well." the boy finally opened up. "there is someone that's been on my mind."
"would it happen to be l/n?" midoriya said through a mouthful of his lunch.
the whole table turned to him.
"how do you know about her?!" shoto immediately asked, shocked.
"o-oh i've seen her in the library a few times." the greenette sweat dropped, nervous that the attention was all on him now. "i hear she has an ice quirk so i wanted to ask her about it but never got the chance."
"may i ask why you're thinking about a girl, shoto? and y/n no less!" uraraka questioned, putting a finger to her chin. "don't tell me! you've finally taken an interest in someone and want to win her attention!"
"does it seem like that?" todoroki asked, feeing like the spotlight was shining on him now.
"there is no shame in being interested in l/n as long as it doesn't interfere with either of your studies!" iida assured the boy, swinging his hands in the air.
"i'll help you get her attention!" the brunette claimed, her smile comforting shoto. "but how?"
"what if you guys bond over your quirks? you both are in an icy category!" midoriya suggested, still thinking about her quirk.
"how about you help you with her homework!" iida added. "who wouldn't that impress if you got her full marks while the two of you bond!"
"those all are definitely...valid suggestions. but! why don't i ask her opinion on you? we are quite close since we both enjoy going to this local mochi store." ochaco said, eating a huge spoonful of her lunch.
"if it wouldn't inconvenience you too much, i would be more than grateful." shoto bowed, his hopes of befriending y/n slightly raised.
the whole table all agreed on uraraka's idea and continued their lunch, their conversation drifting further away from y/n. meanwhile, shoto was more than excited that he might be talking to y/n very soon.
