𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗻. california 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲. hawkins, indiana 𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗻. max grew up in california with her mother, who remarried while her daughter was still quite young. max was never conventionally very much like other girls and much preferred to spend hours at the skate park or arcade in lieu of playing barbies or dress up. she also didn't have very many friends and those she did have were limited in the female department, mostly for the previous reasons. her home life was never very stable, her stepdad and abusive drunk and her brother beginning to take after him. max really just tried to stay away from her family as much as she good, not favoring the way her mother had changed since remarrying. when she was thirteen, susan and neil decided to pack up and move from california to the small town of hawkins, indiana. maxine mayfield could not be less thrilled.
