SPECIES ↳ banshee; appears human ethnicity ✧ irish / white POWERS / SKILLS / WEAKNESSES ↳ ━ like all banshees, aine can sense impending death. in the beginning it was just headaches; migraines growing so strong she'd be forced to scream. this scream can be heard in about a mile radius as though whoever hears it is right next to her, with about two miles of fall-off. if within roughly 30 feet of aine when she screams, it can temporarily deafen you. if it's strong enough, it can also cause lights to flicker, technology to malfunction, and circuit breakers to trip. ━ following her sixteenth birthday it started getting stronger and developing further, and now she is privy to short bursts of vision or sound giving insight into how the person will die / who the person is. ━ once someone she has screamed for dies, she feels an urge to go and find their body. this has helped the hounds find multiple lost members. if aine doesn't go, the urge dies down after a day or two. aine can also identify if someone has died in a location previously. she'll naturally grow paranoid if in a place where lots of people have passed on. the feeling is different if they died naturally vs. unnaturally. ━ she can feel as someone dies. they can only describe it as a growing, numbing emptiness in her chest. ━ aine also gets full visions of death while sleeping. these are rare and she is often left in a state of sleep paralysis for a little while afterwards. like dreams, they are sometimes forgotten by the time she wakes up. ━ her father was a veterinarian. she shares his love for animals and his willingness to care for them. aine would often help him on days where the clinic was busy, or whenever she was off from school; and she learned quite a bit from him. while she doesn't have any kind of medical license, she knows how to identify certain issues an animal (or person, depending) might be struggling with while being equipped enough to help. ━ she's not a bad cook. for the most part, aine had to teach herself to cook so her father had a meal waiting for him when he got home from work. she grew up without a mother and her father had to work hard to keep the small family in a financially stable position. while she prefers to follow recipes so she can't mess up, what she makes always tastes good. ━ her control of her abilities is questionable. she doesn't understand how they work and is forced to kind of just... let the episodes happen. ━ she's completely vulnerable when in any kind of vision. they're like episodes, fits; so she'll have moments of clarity before falling back in.
