THIS IS A REPOST !! I NEEDED TO CHANGE SOMETHING :)
Tommy couldn't see the ground from how high the tower was. The darkness of the night wasn't helping either, making everything like a seemingly endless void below him.
He would admit the height and the wind up there calmed him, despite the dangerous situation he was put in. His legs dangled off and they swung with the melody in his head.
A melody he hadn't heard in forever, too. Mellohi.
He had forgotten all of his problems from being up here. It was a huge relief to him for most of it, ofcourse until he had to figure out how to get down or..why he was there. He was alone with his mind, and he thought that's what he wanted.
"You know..maybe Ranboo was right." He spoke to himself, seeking validation from his own thoughts. Tommy knew no one could hear him anyways. "About Dream, I mean. That he was never my real friend."
Tommy didn't truly believe all of what he was saying. It was like brainstorming to him, trying to figure everything out, fill in the gaps for the story so that it would make sense. No matter if it was right or wrong, it would be what he believed until something shook his mind. (But at his mental state, something would easily be able to. That was the scary part.)
"Like..friends wouldn't hurt eachother, right? He would..he would hit me and.." Tommy trailed off, biting his tongue to give him signs that he was sure and alive. Why was this making him emotional?
He was up there from his own doing and he knew what he wanted. Why the hell was he rethinking any of this? He was starting to get frustrated rather than sad about it, but he didn't know where to direct it.
"Dream, he..he said I deserved it. Whenever he did anything, when he took my stuff or.., he told me it was so he could help me. I believed him, though. I was stupid enough to believe his lies." Tommy continued, putting his hand through his hair. He held back tears.
"And look where that got me." Tommy gestured to his surroundings, almost letting out a laugh. "On top of a fucking tower ready to..ready to end it all."
He wasn't thinking about what he was saying. He just let out whatever crossed his mind. Clearly..that was not a good idea. He no longer felt safe in this area, not just up on his pillar, but in the remains of Logstedshire.
"Dream was never on our side, was he? He was always starting wars over stupid shit and-..even when everyone was against Schlatt, he stood by his side. He was never my friend."
Tommy lifted his head to look straight ahead. All he saw was stars, the moon being bright up above him.
"But neither was Tubbo, right?" he questioned, digging deeper into the thoughts in his brain that needed answered. "Because..well, if Tubbo was my friend then he wouldn't have exiled me. And he would of at least came and visited. That's..that's what a friend would do."
Tommy was confused by that part. He took a second to rethink it before saying it out loud to himself.
"But he was my friend before..before everything. Dream would be the one that ruined it, right?" He argued. "But..no. Dream didn't make him exile me. So..they both are bad. And..and no one cares anymore." His voice broke a bit at the end, making him take a deep breath.
Tommy scooted so he was closer to the edge. He watched his feet slowly drift, side to side.
"So..I'm here. And it is finally my time to die."
Tommy had the motivation, as he got more and more angry at all the people he used to know. He was ready, he thought. He just needed to push himself off.
He didn't think to have "last words". He just wanted to get it over with. Very suddenly, tears welled up at the corners of his eyes, the boy trying not to blink them down. But yet, they just kept streaming, staining his cheeks red.
His sobs were audible, his hand going to cover his mouth because of it. Even he could hear the muffled gasps, and he even went to biting his finger to stop.
He couldn't wait, but not in the good way. He had to do it now or he thought he would be stuck up there until he died some other way.
He tore of the compass that rested on his neck, chucking it far out. He didn't see it drop, or notice where it landed, but he was glad he was gone.
Tommy helped himself up, standing wobbly. When he looked down, how far up he was really started to sink in. He wasn't scared of heights originally. At least he didn't think he was.
He closed his eyes, not being able to bear the sight.
Three.. he counted down slowly.
Two.."One." Tommy whispered as he took a step off the tower.
--
The water surrounded Tommy, making the boy go in a panic. He shut his mouth and eyes, knowing better than that this time. He wasn't gonna drown this time.
His body ached, practically everywhere, but he used all of his remaining strength to try and swim up. He had many of these dreams before, he knew how to handle them. He just needed to get out of the water.
When he popped out, he swore it felt like he was still wet. When he breathed, it felt more realistic then the ones before, more or so like it was halting his calming mechanism. He tried to relax his mind, going to lay back.
Almost instantly liquid started filling his lungs again, making Tommy freak. He tried to sit up (like he was in his bed), but only ended up falling deeper.
He opened his eyes before his head went in, treading above the surface for a moment. Instead of the normal white cloth of his tent, it was a night sky, the moon high and the stars shining out to him.
And fuck, was it cold.
Tommy saw the shoreline near, going as fast as he could to get there. He climbed out of the water, rolling onto the grass. He was coughing violently, spitting out water and maybe just a little blood. He lied their for awhile, holding his body. He was shivering terribly, too weak to try and move.
How did he survive? With seemingly no broken and/or fractured bones, no blood or anything. He hurt, sure, but he was alive.
Tommy didn't believe in a real God or diving force anymore. Esspecially at this time. But this, this was a miracle.
Maybe if I just lie here I'll die anyway. He told himself as an excuse so he didn'thave to leave. I mean, what would Dream do anyway? Kill me?
Tommy decided that he didn't want to be ended by him of all people, and that if he were to die it wouldn't be for their pleasing.
And he also figured he needed to get out of here, and fast. Dream would track him when he found out he was gone, so if he was going to find a place he could stay, now was the time to leave.
He pushed himself up shakily, forcing himself to take deep breaths as he took a step towards the woods. He glanced back at the broken portal for a moment, before going on his way.
Tommy had lost a shoe in the process, his clothes soaking and dripping as he continued. The weather didn't help, either, as it just kept getting colder, the wind picking up.
But Tommy was going to leave, no matter what.
(sorry this chapter is short and not my best work..i want to get to the good parts..)
