as babies we belong to a family

people that share our biological and chemical composition

in their eyes we are perfect little beings

delicate creatures like porcelain dolls

with eyes the size of pebbles

fingernails the size of a half grain of rice

and feet smaller than the palm of your hand

we are given the best care

from the moment we are born

even though we only cry for attention

or when hunger comes calling

our caretakers unconditionally spend their time

making sure that we are okay

and no matter how many times we do this

in their eyes we are still beautiful, perfect little beings
