chapter two
i went up to my room to unpack a lot of my things. the walls had a white base with green baby-breaths all over. it's been like that since i've been visiting cousins beach. plus, nothing was touched in my room ever. susannah would always leave it as it was.
i walked over to my white dresser, where i saw my leopard stuffed animal that conrad won for me at a carnival like 3 years ago. i complained to him, asking why he got belly one and not me. so obviously he went back and won a stuffy for me. i ended up calling him sir winnie. i picked sir winnie up and and placed him on my bed. i then began to take things out of my bag and place them where they all belonged.
"lor?" conrad spoke as he knocked the door.
"come in!"
conrad entered my room and immediately met eyes with me. "so what are you doing today?"
"i have no plans conrad. my parents aren't here so im a lone bird"
"yeah i know. but you're not alone. do you know why your parents aren't coming?"
"no. my mom made an excuse about work and that my dad had to stay too. apparently they're coming in the middle of july."
"they're missing your birthday?"
i sighed. "they are. it's just so weird and stupid."
"you'll be okay. you have laurel, my mom, everyone else, and me." he comforted. i nodded.
he sat on the edge of my bed and picked up sir winnie and stared at him "i still can't believe i spent so much money to win this thing."
"hey! he's not a thing. his name is sir winnie and you know that!" i defended.
"you're such a kid. you know that right?" he replied back.
"i'm only like a year younger than you. if i'm a child than you should be considered a child too."
"year and like 9 months to be exact." conrad corrected.
"whatever." i said as i pulled out more of my clothes to put away.
he saw one of the bikinis i was putting away and immediately took it away from my hands and placed it on my bed. "what are you doing?"
