"What a long night, huh?"

"Tell me about it," Mavis answered Eddie's question before the two shared a laugh.

After the events in Lover's Lake, Mavis had suggested they spend the night somewhere in town, but there wasn't anywhere they could go without risking Eddie being spotted.

Thankfully for them, Eddie knew someone that lived in the outskirts of town, some guy named Brian Hudson whom he used to sell weed to. And Eddie also happened to know that he and his family had gone away for Spring Break. So, with nowhere else to go, the two teenagers spent the night at the pool house of the Hudson family.

At first, Eddie insisted that Mavis go back home, that it wasn't safe out in Hawkins during the night, and that she shouldn't be seen with him, a murder suspect. But Mavis refused. She didn't want to leave him alone. And... she didn't want to be alone either.

She knew Vecna would come for her at some point, and she'd rather spent her last moments with her friends than with her father.

"I know I wanted you to leave, but to be honest, I'm glad you stayed. So... thank you," Eddie spoke as the two left their nightly accommodation once the sun had appeared on the horizon.

"Of course," she smiled. "How are you feeling today?"

"I'm still... pretty goddamn far from okay," he sighed, running a hand down his face.

"Yeah... I guess being on the run does that to you," she joked, hoping to cheer him up. And it seemed to work, because Eddie let out a laugh.

"Definitely."

"But hey, jokes aside, you don't need to worry. I'm sure the others have figured out a way to get to Vecna," she tried to reassure him.
