Past Uncovered | Chapter 4

"Art!"

"-p Art!"

"WAKE UP ART!"

Before this terrifying creature was able to land her hand on my crouch I grabbed it. Sitting up with Tess's hand still in my clutches I glared at her.

"Hehe, just making sure you wake up. Oh and by the way grandpa called my parents over for breakfast so that we can talk about our time travel with them." Tess scratched her head sheepishly before her face contorted to a more serious one.

I could hear Regis and Sylvie snickering in the background but I decided to ignore them. Getting up from the bed I was sleeping on I made my way to the closet to find some clothes for me to wear. Putting on a robe that I find in the closet nothing too fancy just regular formal elven robes. I walked up to Tess.

"Well we shouldn't keep them waiting now should we?" I told her and gestured for her to follow me.

Just when we were going to descend the staircase Tess spoke up, "Hey Art".

"Mmm, what is it, Tess?"

"Should we tell my parents that were in love or not? Maybe my grandpa but perhaps that's too early." Tess replied

I pondered for a minute before speaking, "No, right now your parents don't really want me in the kingdom and it's just going to make it even worse telling them that were in love. Even if were we to explain the time travel ordeal I don't think that they'll give in that easily. For now, let's keep it on the down-low."

She nodded at me in understanding. As we walked up to the door Tess was about to open it but I stopped her in time.

"Wait Tess, make sure you are ready for whatever questions and accusations your parents are going to through at us regarding your new appearance."

"Ok, I understand."

She opened up the door and behind it, I could see gramps sitting on one side of the table and Alduin at one of the edges of the table, and Merial by his side on the right. As they saw Tess's new appearance they shot up wide-eyed and before either Merial or Alduin was about to say something Tess cut them off saying we'll explain everything.

They looked at each other and reluctantly took their seats. I could see Alduin glaring daggers at me, most likely thinking that I'm the reason for her new appearance and probably thinking that I did something terrible to her.

'Although he's not wrong you know' Regis chimed in from inside my core.

Just shut up and come out when I tell you to.

Walking over to the table Tess and I chose two seats next to two each other and sat down. This didn't go unnoticed by both Alduin and Merial seeing how close we were to one another and I swear I could feel some killing intent from Alduin. Gramps just let out a chuckled but let us be. Alduin flicked his fingers and maids came in with our foods.

As the last of the maids left I decided to start and try to lessen the uneasy tension in the air first. "Now then where do we start?"

Tess let out a sigh and said, "Mom, dad to begin with can you sense something different about me other than my appearance?"

They regarded her for a moment before speaking, "Other than your shift in demeanor I don't. . .Wait! Is that a mana core!?" Alduin yelled.

"So you finally found out. Yes, her mana core has already been awakened. As for her shift in appearance, it's because of her early awakening that she looks like that."

Both Tess and gramps looked at me with a questioning look as if saying 'why did you lie to them' but I just waved them off and gave them a look that told them I tell them about it later.
