Garble...garble.

That was all Gabe and Jason needed to fold over like lawn chairs and start wheezing with laughter.

On the drive there neither of us said anything. Xavier had trained his eyes to the road the entire time and every time I opened my mouth to strike up a conversation, I was at a loss for words.

The silence wasn't unbearable though, something about Xavier's presence and the soft music playing on the radio made it seem kind of comforting. He smelt so fricken good, not to mention looked so delectable too.

Though I couldn't fantasize about my Man Crush Monday because the inside of my stomach was twisting and churning from the anticipation.

Giveon playing on the track was the only thing keeping me from hurling from the stress.

Albeit when Natasha caught me downstairs she shoved 3 strips of bacon and an egg down my throat, the thought of seeing my dad again made me feel on edge. Part of me didn't even want to see him knowing it wasn't a good sign that he had not bothered to come to look for me since the duck-napping.

The long silence was finally cut short by the radio screaming, "There's some whores in this house," before I quickly leaped to the car console, shutting the GPS off entirely before my shower theme song could ruin the calm mood.

I change favorite songs every day that if Vecna ever got my ass, I'd be long dead no question about it.

Xavier's eyes flickered to me curiously as if he had not just heard Cardi about to go off on some certified freak. "How are you feeling?" He questioned gently.

I wanted to burst into tears every time I heard his tender voice. Talk about character development, why was this hot piece of hunk not this nice to me when we first met?! God what wasted potential!

"Just nervous," I took in a sharp inhale of breath and avoided his gaze before asking, "Have you been here before?"

He sure knew where he was going.

A short pause before he replied hesitantly, "Yeah,"

I nodded in response, not knowing what to say. I didn't hold it against him for not telling me where my deadbeat dad had run off to. By fair trade, it was my dad who had staked me for the money and considering he had run off with it, it was only customary Xavier had his end of the deal met too.

That wasn't technically Xavier's fault.

The car pulled into a concrete apartment complex in the middle of nowhere. Rows and rows of doors lined with railing and corridors stood in front of the run-down parking lot. Xavier's sleek black sportscar looked insanely out of place considering the place looked like the inside of a sewer pipe.

It looked like the apartment complex Jerry went to when Beth divorced him lol.

I shook my head, contemplating if this was even what I wanted to do. I needed to see my dad, I needed to set stuff straight with him and know why he did what he did. Despite everything, he was still my dad.

I got out of the car before I could contradict myself and shut the door behind me. To my surprise Xavier was already standing in front of me, hands tucked in his pocket as he surveyed my expression for any clues to how I was feeling.

"Are you coming with me?" I asked quickly, meeting his gaze. Part of me wanted him to say yes but the other part knew I needed to do this by myself.

"No, I'm not,"
