Xavier's POV (Surprise)

"You really are such a hassle, Xavier Dante, if our dads weren't friends I would've killed you myself ages ago," Natasha chided, crossing her arms over her chest annoyedly. She sat in the seat opposite the infirmary bed, one leg over the other as her eyebrow twitched out of irritation towards me.

"Grab a ticket and get in line," I murmured flatly, sitting on the infirmary bed and displaying equal distaste. The words escaped my mouth followed by a groan as I glared down at Nathan seated in front of me.

"This would've been done ages ago if you'd just give in to the sedative, Xavier," He replied in an obvious tone, continuing to sew the deep scathe across my hip.

"Just hurry up," I shot back, casting my eyes at the ceiling. I was on my 3rd dose and still refusing to comply to just fall asleep, if I went out now, who knows when I'd wake up. My body was too on alert to take a moment to relax, especially with half of my men injured, it didn't seem like a victory. Nathan sighed disapprovingly and shook his head, looping the needle through my skin again.

Once the adrenaline had dissipated from my body, the whole situation had absolutely fucking winded me. I couldn't even walk to Skyler when I saw her kneeling on the concrete. I had overexerted my limits, absolutely pulling out the stops when I broke up to the helipad with zero hesitation when I heard the gunshot go off.

The passage was guarded by the remaining of Argent's men who managed to escape with him when we broke the walls in. There was no way we could search the whole place for Skyler when time wasn't in our favor.

That's when the gunshot went off above us, I knew it had to be her. I ran up the steps the moment I heard it, firing all the rounds of the remaining guns strapped to my utility vest under the blazer. 30 seconds after the gun was fired, I barreled up to the helipad leaving a trail of corpses.

The team couldn't keep up and I knew every fucking second I wasted, I was putting Skyler in more and more danger.

My heart tightened at the thought of the gunshot being against Skyler as I saw her kneeling before him. For half a second, it was like I saw red at her absolutely bloodied and bruised body being lifted from the ground with Argent's filthy hand on her.

I would've cut his hand off for that stunt if he wasn't already fucking dead.

"All done," Nathan sighed in relief, studying the suture he had done on the gash. Partly because if he stayed here longer I would've kicked him out of vexation, "Can't believe you pulled out your own bullet," he added annoyedly, "You have zero regard for sanitisation do you?"

I opened my mouth to say something before he cut me off. He knew I'd fire something back.

"Just don't move vigorously or those stitches are going to come out," He sighed and pulled off his sterilized gloves before tossing the bloodied cloths and antiseptics into the tray by the infirmary table.

"I'm aware," I told him as he covered the stitches with gauze. I didn't bother looking at it before reaching for my shirt. There were other cuts scathed on my body but they weren't serious enough for stitches. The only one that stood out was the one on my cheek which was covered by the white gauze bandage.

"That was reckless, Xavier," Natasha spoke again, glaring at me while I pulled my shirt over my bare upper body. She was mad at me for going overboard. They all were but I didn't have the time to wait for back up, Argent was right there. Nathan had managed to patch up most of the cuts from the helicopter's first aid kit, but the gash needed stitches.

I didn't say anything.

She stood up, walking closer to me as I stood motionlessly at the door of the infirmary. "I thought you were going to die," Her voice cracked for a moment and her eyes met the floor. I could tell the tears had brimmed her sight and she didn't want to seem weak.
