BOOM!
I suddenly heard an explosion to the west. A smoke was going up not so long after that.
I could see some people ran this way from the distance. They all looked so panicked. Some other people ended up running together with them.
This city used to be really peaceful. Never have I seen the people here this panicked. It must be 'it'. This is bad. The citizens are in their most vulnerable state. There will be a high number of casualties. Tch! There's no other way. I gotta do it!
I ran as quick as I could to the west direction.
"YOUNG LADY, DON'T DO THAT! THAT'S DANGEROUS!" screamed someone.
I ignored it and kept running.
Deducing from the map I've seen when exploring, this city has four escape routes to the four cardinal directions. To the east, to the west, and to the south are routes to three friendly nations, Armed Nation of Dwargon, Kingdom of Blumund, and Capital of the Forgotten Dragon respectively. And to the north is the route to the Sealed Cave.
However, the people here won't be able to go out from this city. The magicule-cleansing barrier is basically caging every monsters inside. If they try to escape, at the moment they pass through the barrier, it'll erase the magicule blocks inside their bodies, and eventually lead to their demise.
Even if they do manage to escape, there must be some soldiers placed to block all escape routes. There are only two choices: fight or die.
I saw a sign that read "Mile 46". Just a few miles before the city plaza.
The situation started getting worse as I ran further.
I could already see a few buildings caught in fire. I even saw a collapsed building.
This is bad! I've started catching a faint smell of blood.
I heard a scream and a laughter.
I slowed down my run.
Near several limp, bloody bodies lied in the ground, I saw a man and a small child.
I immediately stopped, silently taking a few steps backwards, and hid behind the nearest building. I took a peek to observe what actually happened.
The man was a human, full-armoured, and currently holding a bloody sword.
The child was a little hobgoblin. He was heavily injured. There were many cut and gashes on his body.
The man slashed the already-limp child, but never went to the vital point. All he did was slashing the child's arms, legs, cheeks, and abdomens.
The child couldn't let out any sound anymore, but he was still breathing and his eyes were still opened. Meanwhile, the man just kept laughing with a crazy smile.
I gritted my teeth. My head was burning. My heart was racing.
The man raised his sword high, pointing the sword's tip below. He was ready to release a final thrust.
"YOU PIECE OF SHIT!!!" When I realized, I already shot an arrow towards the man, piercing perfectly through his neck from the side.
The man was in pain, holding his neck, fell to his knees, then fell limp in the ground.
I quickly went out of my hideout then checked on the child.
His eyes were now closed, but he was still breathing, although it was so shallow.
The amount of the wounds inflicted is too much. Low Potion will surely not work. I opened my waist bag, took a bottle of High Potion, then gave it for him to drink.
