Uwaaahhhh... the sun will set soon.
There was no way I would continue my journey in the dark.
Nah, just joking. I was an A Rank adventurer, remember? I had eyes that I always sharpened since I was a little kid. I'd been used to walking inside the darkness of the Forest of Jura in the night.
I always stayed at an inn in the night if I wasn't in the forest. Either way, I also wanted to stay longer in this city.
I finally found a mile sign.
I was currently in Mile 17. If I walked at usual pace, I'd likely find inns after almost 3 hours. Well, let's walk a little faster, then.
A little less than two hours later...
The sky was already dark, but not with the city.
Earlier, at the moment when the sun set, the lamps located in front of buildings had been turned on one by one. It was so lively and lovely.
I arrived in Mile 25.
There were many inns available to choose. I didn't know if this was only my feeling or what... but, all those inns somehow looked fancy just from the first glance.
Let's choose that one.
I walked to the less-fancier-looking inn among them.
As soon as I entered, a receptionist greeted, "Welcome to our inns. Do you want to stay, ma'am?"
This time, the receptionists were humans.
"Yes," I said. "Are there still any available rooms?"
"Yes, there are currently five rooms available."
"I only need one room for one person. I'll stay for a night."
"Ok, please let me fill out the guest book. What's your name?"
"Isabella Fletcher."
She wrote my name in the guest book. "Ok, the cost would be fifty silver coins for one night. This already includes dinner and breakfast. We also have a public bath facility, but you would be charged with an additional twenty bronze coins fee."
Yep... definitely fancy. But that was far cheaper than I thought.
"Your room would be in room 303. Let me lead you to your room first."
I followed her.
We arrived at a room, that numbered 303. It was on the third floor, of course.
She unlocked the door and opened it.
She turned on the main lamp. "Here is your room," she said, handing a key. "This is your key. Please make sure you don't lose it."
"Thank you."
"If there's a problem. Please tell us immediately. Oh, and after this you could immediately go to the dining room for the dinner. Because it's already time."
"Of course," I said.
She bowed lightly, turned, and walked back to her place.
I walked in, looking inside the room.
This really is something else. This is... just like some fancy inns you'd find in Ingrassia.
This room was quite large, for my standard. This room had, of course, a bed, a table with a lamp, a wardrobe, a mirror, and... a toilet room, I guess?
I walked to the bed and sat on it.
This is really comfortable. Not to mention, just by rubbing it, I know that this was made from high-quality material. But, well... as fancy as this inn might be, there are still some even fancier-looking inns out there.
Ah, it was the time for dinner, wasn't it? I almost forgot.
I put my bow and arrow container on the table. I went out of my room, locked the door, then went to the dining room.
In the dining room, I saw a sign that read "DINNER MENU: Tempura".
Heh... another new dish to try, eh?
I almost laughed. I was rarely interested in foods before. What had gotten into me? It was like I was here in this inn just for trying some new foods. This is dangerous.... This country can charm me into spending my money just for trying some new foods.
The dining room was already filled with several people. I searched and sat at an empty table.
A waitress came, carrying a tray with two bowls of food. "Thank you for waiting." She put them in our table. "We hope you enjoy the food." She bowed lightly with a smile, going back to take other bowls for the others.
I observed my tempura a little bit. I noticed that in each piece, there was a tail that I knew it was from a sea animal.
Fried seafood, eh?
Ah, anyway I was gonna take a pair of chopsticks, take a piece, and try to bite it.
W-what is this incredible taste? The crispy texture of the coat, mixing together with the seafood.
"Amazing. And this surprisingly isn't oily," I muttered.
I took a bite after another, then took a piece after another, and eventually lost myself.
(TIMESKIP)
Ahhh... how blissful.
I was currently soaking my body in the tube filled with warm water. It'd been a while since the last time I cleaned my body with water.
At first, I thought this 'toilet room' would only provide basic toilet facilities for urination and defecation. But I was wrong. This was a bathroom, with a shower and a bath tube. And the toilet, it's really a new thing for me. I mean, it could flush itself just by pressing a certain button. Wasn't that crazy?
Not only was this country more advanced than Falmuth, its cost standard was also far lower...
I never liked Falmuth. Whenever I stayed in Falmuth, it was because I had to. I never felt happy staying there, so I would walk much faster, maybe three or four times faster in Falmuth than anywhere.
Why? I'd told you before. The people there tended to look down at us adventurers. It irritated me whenever an adventurer entered a public place like restaurant or what, some Falmuth people would start whispering to each other while looking at her/him somewhat disgustedly.
But the monsters, no, the people here are a lot nicer. Every people I've met here is always smiling and polite. Heck, I can assure you that the people here know how to behave much better than some humans out there. I never got something like 'death stare', badmouthing, etc. No wonder many adventurers ultimately chose to stay here rather than in there.
I finished my bath and wiped my body with a towel. I went out of the bathroom, closed the door, opened the wardrobe, put on my outfit back.
I turned off the main lamp.
I walked to the bad and laid my body on it.
The fact that we, the adventurers, chose to stay in Tempest would inevitably cause a major loss for Falmuth. They won't stay silent, I'm sure of it.
Although it pains me to say, but it's a fact that we humans tend to think to literally destroy anyone who makes disadvantages of us then loot everything from them, rather than destroy them with competition.
And there are also those supremacist blockheads. Once they hear about monsters, they won't listen to anyone's words. If we try to defend the people here from them, it'll most likely result on us being labelled as the enemies of God, and ultimately going to be killed without mercy.
There's a very high chance that someday they will conspire together. considering that Falmuth's king has a reputation for being greedy and sly.
Islowly lost my mind in dark, and began to sleep.
