FATEEMA'S POV

31st December, 2019

7:30PM

"Thank you so much Sarah, I owe you one,"

"Oh please, you better make sure I get some juicy news." I nodded, smiling as she drove out of the compound.

If not for I'm heavy, I'm so excited I could hop back inside but with a little happy squeal and a twirl I walk back to my room.

I got in the shower after quickly dropping him a text that he should be home early please.

His reply came while I was curling my hair after fitting in the above knee length burgundy dress, I made my face look more presentable than I normally do, then took dozens of mirror selfies. I love mirror selfies you see.

Whilst arranging the three course meal Sarah and I made on my new dining table set, I see him drive into the premises and then he got inside the house a minute after setting the car on park, without coming to say 'hi' which was the least he has done for the past couple of weeks.

I thought that maybe he needed to use the restroom, so I continued my work but after 5minutes of finishing and 5 more minutes of waiting to see if he'd come meet me, I decided to check up on him.

Upon reaching our room, I met a trolley opened on the bed as he arranged clothes-his clothes in it.

"What are you doing? Why are you packing? Wh-where are you going?"

"Dubai," he answered monotonously.

"Why?" I inquired. Has it come to him eager to leave the house because he dislikes the sight of me?

"Something urgent came up."

"For how long?" My brain isn't functioning effectively at the moment.

"I don't know," Allah knows I'm so angry right now, but I'm trying to keep my cool.

"What about me? The baby? What about us?" My voice starts to break.

"Not now Fateema," he replied walking past me to the walk-in closet and out in about 20seconds with a new set of toiletries, a perfume and a prayer mat.

"Babe please, can you at least spare me some time out of your busy schedule so we could at least sort out what is going on between us. Please." I pleaded at the verge of breaking down.

"I said not now," he repeated himself harshly.

"With the baby coming, do you really have to g-"

"Why can't you get it into your thick head, I said not today, now get out of my room," he shouted looking at me for the first time since he got back but right now tears are pricking my eyes and telling me to leave his sight whilst shouting at me was the last button to push them, and they came, rolling down non-stop as I turned and walked out of the room like he demanded.

I'm done trying.

YA MUHAMMAD'S POV

I was grateful I was able to book a last-minute flight with less than 3 hours lead time before departure.

And I have been sitting here and waiting for the past two hours, to hear the announcement for boarding, my phone shook in my pocket indicating an incoming video call. Abdallah.

"I messed up," was what I said after hitting the 'accept' icon.

"I know, Sarah told me that you guys are not ok, abokina, I never knew you could be a heartless jerk, haba! How can you be treating a girl that has been nothing but nice to you this way? If she's really upset, her anger is justified, Allah!" Abdallah tried to talk some sense into my jumbled head pinching in the few hausa words he had picked from me.
