Most people wouldn't wear a black jacket with the hoodie on, during a hot summer day, but I'm Althea Jackie Dare, so that's normal for me.

I look down at my black worn out converse. Foot after foot after foot.

Getting closer to the hell of a home I live in by the second.

I look back up to see my house up ahead. Maybe only 30 yards away.

I keep walking when out of nowhere a paper slaps me in the face and then falls to the floor in front of me.

Annoyed I snatch it up and read the printed text.

----------------------

This didn't surprise me at all. Not one bit. Parker was known as the Badboy of this school, also being in the jock group with many of the popular guys.

I wanted to feel bad for him but all I could manage was a small laugh.

"Hey! That's my report card!" Yelled a voice from behind.

My heart stopped and I froze.

I heard footsteps behind him then the next thing I knew Parker Ethan Henderson was standing in front of me.

I stared at him speechless then handed him the paper.

He half smiled. "Thanks. You didn't read it, did you?"

I look down not meeting his eyes, "I-uh. Well..."

He chuckles and shoves me slightly in a playful manner. "Hey, its alright. I was just asking. If I would've found a paper I would've read it too."

I manage a small smile.

"Althea, right?"

I nod nervously.

"What'd you get on your report card?"

The words come out before I debate saying it. "Straight A's."

He smirks. "Typical for a goody two shoes."

I laugh, "Well, failing grades is typical for you."

He laughs shaking his head. "You gotta enjoy life, you know? Who cares about school when you can hang out with friends."

"School is important for me. Now excuse me, but I have to get going." I say making up an excuse to end the conversation.

"Alright. See you tomorrow, goody two shoes." He says jogging back from the direction he came from.

"That's if you don't skip math class!" I yell after him.
He gives one last smile before disappearing into a backyard.
