character title ↳ the jinx
full name ↳ solomon michael "mike" barker
nickname ( s ) ✧ mike, parker
physical gender ↳ male
pronouns ✧ he / him
sexual orientation ✧ heterosexual
current age ↳ eighteen
species ↳ human
ethnicity ✧ british-american
skills ↳ solomon has rather good stamina. he's a fast runner. pretty good at maneuvering around and through tight spaces. while he's definitely on the clumsier side and trips over his own shoelaces pretty often, once he gets started he's gone. about average intelligence, but he can adapt to things rather easily and adjust his plan / course of action if he needs to.
preferred weapon of choice ↳ doesn't have a super particular "preferred weapon", but is competent enough to use whatever happens to be on hand at the time. can't necessarily throw knives, but can wield one as well as anyone else. frying pan? he can hit you, but he won't do any tricks like deflecting a fucking bullet... he doesn't plan to test his luck like that.
okay with serious injury? ✧ yep yep. ^^
okay with death? ✧ of course. time for some fun, right?
face claim ↳ dylan o'brien
personality ↳ perhaps you could blame his stubborn nature on the fact that he's had to deal with sh*t all his life due to his dyslexia. if not that, then perhaps its the fact that he spent most of his childhood standing beside his twin sister (anyone would have to be stubborn to deal with her all the time, solomon often claims). or, maybe it's just a fundamental part of who he is. parker was lucky enough to grow up in an understanding and loving household, fortunate both in how close he was with his sister and in how their parents treated and made time for the two of them ( a surprisingly rare occurrence, thanks to how lovely their hometown is ). it's due to how close they all were that he grew to notice any change in their moods or personalities. a sudden shift could mean something was wrong, and that could never mean something good. it got to a point where he could observe others in a similar manner, noticing quickly if something was wrong. if something was– and especially if it was his sister that was upset– solomon would be incredibly protective or defensive. he could be that way with friends, but with his sister was a whole other story. however, the boy has also always acted a bit more laid-back. he's here to enjoy his time, and to help others enjoy theirs. a bit of a trickster, but mostly just to try and make people laugh. none of his jokes or pranks are meant to harm anyone he knows (unless you really manage to piss him off), and he takes pride in keeping the mood light whenever he's in the room. as expected, he prefers to look at the bright side of things. he would rather think about success than failure– because what kind of person goes on an adventure expecting to come back empty handed? that's what life has become for him, in an attempt to hide from the traumatic experiences just outside his door. its a big, massive, amazing, fantastical adventure, and he never wants to stop riding the high of it. he does what he needs to, like his school work or extracurriculars. he doesn't break a lot of rules, but he'll never pass up a chance to do something new. he loves a good challenge to keep him on his toes, and he loves to win.
fears ↳ being separated from his sister for too long cause... what if something were to happen to her?
secrets ↳ solomon doesn't keep many secrets– NONE from his sister. the only secret he keeps is his sisters. she's a lesbian, and he's the only one she'd ever tell. he won't give her away, not at the risk of her getting hurt.
backstory ↳ one could say solomon is a magnet for bad luck. he doesn't know why– but here one would expect that to be a death sentence. except it... hasn't? somehow, mike is still here, still standing. and there's about a 97.4% chance it's because of his twin sister. whenever he trips over his shoelace or manages to get himself into a less than desirable situation, his twin is always there to save him. she's the opposite of solomon. she repels his misfortune, her luck almost as unnaturally good as his is bad. because of this, the two are nearly inseparable. because of their shared dyslexia, they share the same classes, which has only aided them. throughout their childhood, their parents did what was necessary to keep the pair safe and alive in such a dangerous town, but compared to many of their neighbors their lives have been relatively normal.
any relationship with the deceased? ↳ solomon was not particularly close with the victim. while he's pretty popular, they hardly ever spoke to one another. maybe they'd run into one another at parties, but he'd never gone out of his way to interact with her. she was nice, a lot of people liked her, and he might offer her a smile in the halls, but they were very different people with very different interests.
has any family been the victim of a summersville incident? ↳ while mike himself has never been a victim, nor have many of his family, his parent's have lost plenty of friends for one reason or another. they're like side characters: relatively untouched despite their time in the town, but who knows how long that'll last.
