Chapter 2:  I want to kiss him, but there’s always something that happens.

You should have seen the look on Mark’s face when he came back from the toilets and saw Jason and I with our lips a few inches apart. It is pointless to try to describe it. It was filled with anger and – something I could not quite get my finger on. Jealousy, probably? Wicked! Jason and I pulled away. I smiled at Mark and he automatically knew. I was taking over the battle and he had to put on a show for himself.

The Player: 02

Ex-Boyfriend: 00

This was war. And I would not let go so easily. He could still dream. He sat down again and tried to ease down the fact that he was on his nerves. I smirked and played with Jason’s hand under the table. He leaned into me again and I moved towards him, we were so close now. I could count each one of his eyelashes, even through his thick glasses. He twitched his head to the side and leaned in a little closer. There was hardly any space between us now. The space was the width between two letters in a word in a book. Yes, we were that close. I closed my eyes and –

“C’MON! COULDN’T YOU WAIT TILL I’M OUT?” Mark screamed his lungs out. I sighed and mouthed ‘immature’ to him. He threw me a disappointing look and I rolled my eyes.

I stood up to go to the toilet for a moment. I walked over to there and I re-applied my eyeliner and tried to get the knots out of my hair with my fingers. And it was hard, let me tell you. Now let’s get back to business. I COULD NOT FALL FOR JASON. I COULD NOT FALL FOR JASON. Shit. Too late. I sighed and got out of the stinky toilets. I walked towards the boys without making a noise and I heard Jason tell him:

“C’mon bro, I want to kiss that girl. Let me just do it.” He said. God, he is such a girl.

“ I can’t let you do that. You’ll get hurt.” Mark sneered back, then he got closer to his brother and murmured menacingly “And she’s mine. Don’t forget that.”

Jason turned around, sighing and when he saw me, his eyes widened and he mouthed ‘shit’. I know, shit, I told myself. I smiled rather sheepishly and walked towards them with my arms crossed over my chest. I shot them both a disapproving glance, but I still hugged Jason. Mark had that look again. The priceless one that I couldn’t get the finger on exactly. Maybe it was love and jealousy, after all, I thought. It made more sense now, since I had heard it from his own mouth. He actually wanted me back.

They were taking me back home in Jason’s car and Mark and I fought about who was sitting beside Jason in front. Finally, Jason managed to get us apart and told me to take the seat. I kissed his cheek and smiled sweetly. I showed my tongue to Mark childishly. I guess he thought of it the wrong way because he took his tongue out and made as if he was kissing someone, but with nobody on the other side. Ugh, I thought. I mouthed ‘fuck off’ and climbed into the front seat. We drove silently except for the music on the radio. At some point I got sick of the music playing and I asked Jason if I could change it. He agreed and I looked at all his CDs. He had a Taylor Swift one. Seriously? I winked and he sighed and muttered “My sister’s.” I mouthed “sure” and slipped the CD into the player. My favorite Taylor Swift song started. Mine. I sang along to the lyrics and I was looking at Jason all through the song. He smiled and I felt my heart twitch. I really did L_ _ _ him after all, well sure looks like it. He parked the car in front of my house and I stepped onto the pavement after opening the door. I pecked him on his cheek and frowned at Mark. I turned to my house and walked in. Not such a wonderful day.

I stepped outside with my sunglasses on. It was so hot today. I was wearing a floral skirt and a purple top. My Gucci sunglasses were sitting on my nose and my big black bad was in my left hand. I walked to the gate, with my heels clicking with every step. I opened my car and climbed in the driver’s seat. I turned the key in the ignition and headed for school. I was greeted by the twins in front of the door. I parked my car in my usual spot and climbed down. I kissed them both on one of their cheeks, and while I was going to kiss Mark’s cheek, he twisted his head and my lips nearly landed on his. I blushed and tried to cover it by making as if I was yawning. Jason and I left Mark alone in the schoolyard and headed for our first class together. It was math, yay, not! We took our seats in the front row, and he asked me a question which took me by surprise:
