"Mary, baby wake up," mum whispered, shaking my shoulders.
"Honey, it's time to wake up," she said again, opening the curtains right above me. I blinked, waking up. I sat up in confusion, what time is it? My clock read '11:23 am', so I guess I slept in.
"You can't sleep the day away, silly! It's time for breakfast," she smiled, "please go take a shower and get up."
I reluctantly nodded, heading towards the closet. After debating on an outfit, I picked out a black tee shirt, then a long sleeve plaid shirt, skinny jeans, and black converse. I then walked to the bathroom, taking a quick shower, then applying foundation, concealer, winged eyeliner, blush, and mascara on, and did my hair in a messy side fishtail braid. After all, it is October. I ran downstairs and saw breakfast, and everyone sitting at the table, eating.
"Well finally!" Logan exclaimed, and I rolled my eyes and sat down. It was toast, scrambled eggs, blueberries, strawberries, and orange juice.
"Good morning honey," daddy smiled, and I gave a small one in return.
"Are you mute?" Logan asked bluntly, and I just lost it. I didn't show it, but I felt like crying all over again, or punching him. He will never understand.
"Logan?! Apologize," mum said, obviously crossed with him.
"But I just asked! Geez," he said, taking another forkful of eggs.
"She's not," Cole growled, scaring me a bit.
"Then why the hell won't she talk?" He asked. I got up from the table and ran to my room, locking my door. I heard mum and daddy yelling at him from downstairs. Logan's such a dick. He doesn't get it.
"Mary? Mary, I swear he didn't mean it," Cole pleaded from outside. Yeah, sure.
"Please let me in. I can calm you down," he said. I was so angry, and numb,I was shaking, silent tears rolling down my cheeks. I heard a click, and my door opened. Yelling was still audible from downstairs. He ran over to my bed, looking worried.,
"It's okay, shh, it'll be okay," he whispered, rubbing my back. After about ten minutes the tears were gone and I was still a little mad, but not livid like earlier. I was still numb though.
"I-I-I'm s-sorry," I stammered.
"You have nothing to be sorry for. Logan was just being mean," he said, and I nodded. Someone knocked on the door, then mum and daddy walked in.
"Are you okay?" Mum asked, and I nodded. Dad and mum shared a worry looked then back to me.
"I'm sorry about him. He'll warm up to you eventually," dad sighed.
"Well, today I was hoping to take you to get nails done and pick out some books. Does that sound okay?" Mum asked, and I nodded, giving her a small smile. I then looked at Cole, what if I flip out and he isn't there?
"BYE MUM I'M GOING TO JENNI'S!" Logan screamed, then I heard the door slam. Isn't he grounded?
"I'll go get him," dad sighed, and ran downstairs. A moment later, I heard the door open.
"DAD! LET ME GO!" Logan screamed, making me jump.
"Young man, you're grounded. For the rest of the day, you will be cleaning. Here's the list, get busy," I heard dad say in a no nonsense tone.
"Do you want Cole to come?" Mum asked, well, not if he didn't want to. I can only imagine him getting a pedicure.
"Uh, sure... As long as I don't get my nails done," Cole said awkwardly. Mum laughed and I giggled a bit.
"Let's go then," she said as we walked downstairs.
"Bye honey," mum said, giving dad a peck on the cheek.
"Bye sweetheart. Love you," he said, and she said that back too.
"Cole... are...why..." dad asked, puzzled.
"Mary wants me to go," he explained, and dad nodded, shrugging. I was glad Cole was going, yet I felt bad for him. Maybe today won't be horrible.
