"Guys I feel bad..." Olivia said something for the first time in forever.
So did everyone else.
"Yeah" Mia said admittedly.
"Mmhmm" Maddie added.
"Well, yeah , but I'm not turning back this car for those dick heads" Ash said irritated. "Even though they were kinda funny" she softened up moments later.
Everyone raised there eyebrows at her repeatedly. She sighed in defeat, smiling.
"Only because they were so pretentious, it was ridiculous" she added when she saw their faces.
"Mmm yeah, ridiculous" Mia said mockingly. Ash rolled her eyes playfully and went back to her driving whilst Mia smirked.
" Just to think we haven't even got there yet and we've already experienced annoying guys. I swear to God I hope there aren't any guys like that at Lockwood." Maddie said sighing with a little giggle.
About 10 more minutes of driving , the isolated desert road started to open up and there were finally signs of life, which there hadn't been for at least the last 4 hours, at the last gas station.
"Where are we even?" Olivia asked looking up from her phone.
"uhh... Coachella, population I don't even know." Ashlynn said, squinting at a road sign with a font that had to be smaller than a half in sizes. Maddie leaned over all of them to turn the radio up a little. For the next 5 minutes of driving everyone was doing there own thing, Mia going through different filters on her phone for the selfie she just took, Olivia on tumblr in the back, Maddie humming along to the old "MJ Classic" she liked to call it, and Ashlynn thinking about life whilst driving. There was a beep that came from the metre near the steering wheel.
"Ugh!" She groaned in frustration. "Guys I'm going to have to stop over to get some gas at the next gas station."
"What!? Noooooo" Maddie said.
"I'm tiredddd" Olivia added, whining.
"Well I'm sorry kids but unless you want to be stranded in the middle of the road we have to go." Ash said being assertive just like a mother. They all knew where she was coming from because she was always referred to as the mom of the group. Ash always worried about people. Always. She'd probably have all grey hair by the time she's thirty if she carries on looking after this lot.
"Okay mom" Olivia and Maddie said in unison.
They all looked at eachother and burst out laughing. Ashlynn switched on the indicators and swerved left into the gas station. She got out of the car and made her way to fill up the tank with gas.
" Guys I'm hungry." Maddie said pouting like a little child.
"As always" Mia added with a little laugh.
"Hey it's not my fault. As Selena Gomez once said, the stomach wants what it wants." She said narrowing her eyes and smiling at the same time. They all laughed.
"Not gonna lie, I'm a little hungry too. Just go into that diner over there, I'll meet you when the tank's full and I've payed for the gas." Ashlynn said.
They all got out and walked into the old-fashioned diner whilst Ashlynn went to pay for the gas. They walked into the quaint diner and sat at one of the booths that had red leather that probably started to fade ages ago. This middle aged man with a moustache and short hair that was turning grey instantly came up to them.
"Hello ladies, may I take your order?"he said smiling rather creepily.
"Uuuhhh, could we just have four vanilla milkshakes, two cheeseburgers and a plate of fries." Olivia said, a little creeped out by the mans behaviour as he leaned in closer to her face to "hear" the order.
