"I don't remember him, Manang."
I saw his lip twitch as if he was trying not to react.
He ignored me and turned to Manang Fe. "Ma, asaan ang mga bag ba dala niyo? Dadalhin ko na sa loob para makapagpahinga na kayo."
I bit my lower lip, feeling embarrassed.
Manang Fe laughed. "Nasa compartment, anak. Kunin mo nalang."
He immediately followed his mother’s instruction, retrieving the luggage and heading straight inside.
"Halika, Nathey nak." Manang Fe asked, turning to me. I nodded silently, following her.
I sighed and looked at the house in front of me. This is the start of a new beginning.
When I entered, the first thing I noticed was the large staircase in the middle of the house. To the side were white sofas, neatly arranged.
"The house is clean. Why is it so clean? Who’s been cleaning here, Manang?" I asked.
Manang smiled at me. "Nililinisan ito ni Huller tuwing linggo. Malapit lang aming bahay dito; isa iyon sa nga bahay na nakita mo kanina."
My mouth opened in surprise, but before I could say anything, someone interrupted me.
"I’ve already brought your things upstairs. There are two bedrooms up there; yours is at the end of the hall," he said before turning back to his mother.
Manang nodded approvingly.
"Gusto mo muna ba lumibot dito, Nathey, o gusto mo na magpahinga?" she asked.
I shook my head. What’s there to do here anyway?
Walk around the farm, stare at animals, or watch the farmers plant crops?
"I'm tired. I want to sleep," I replied. In my head, I’d rather use my phone than roam around in this heat!
"Okay, umakyat kana sa taas at magpahinga. Bukas, papasamahan kita kay Huller na mag enroll sa paaralan dito." Manang said.
You heard that right—I’m going to study here, in this province.
I sighed and nodded again. I glanced at the man standing nearby. He was still frowning, looking like he didn’t want me here.
I climbed the stairs and entered my room. It was much smaller than my room in the mansion back in the city—or abroad—but it was clean, so I let it go.
I flopped onto the bed with a heavy sigh. I remembered Huller now, but why did he act like he didn’t remember me?
He’s so annoying! I thought. I had barely kept my anger in check earlier. I know people think I look like a b*tch, but it’s not like I can help how my face looks!
I closed my eyes and, without realizing it, fell asleep.
When I woke up, I grabbed my phone from my bag and checked the time. It was already 3 a.m.
We had arrived here at 4 p.m., so I’d overslept.
I opened my Messenger app and saw several messages. I clicked on the group chat named 'B*tches' with my two best friends from Korea. We became friends because all three of us are half-Filipino.
There were tons of messages in the chat, mostly asking if I was okay. I didn’t bother backreading and just replied.

Yes, and I’m at our farm now. I’ll be studying here. :(Tamara Leila Kim
What?! Why? That’s so unfair of Tito Joaquim!Bella Vita
Girl, what are you going to do now? Babysit a pig or a cow? 😂Tamara Leila Kim
HAHAHAHAHAHA FUNNY!I rolled my eyes. These two are no help at all.
We used to go clubbing and pick fights on campus together, so why am I the only one being punished?
Maybe because their dads actually love them.
