My cousins house was MASSIVE. You might call it a mansion. It had 3 dining rooms, 4 living rooms, 2 kitchens, and 20 bedrooms. Yea you WOULD call it a mansion. Angel and I walked up the grand staircase where we could here Afro beats playing. We took in our surroundings as we slowly walked though the double doors. Antiques and paintings decorated the walls and the floor was marble. We decided to go to the biggest living room where most people were.
We walked into the house taking in our environment and switching our brains to party mode. We went to the buffet where there were TONS of food. Jollof, plantain, puff puff, spring rolls, malt and much more were laid out. Our mouths watered just looking at it all.
"Hello Angel! Hello Joy!" It was my favourite Auntie greeting us. Her jollof rice was the BEST (probably cause she was from Ghana) and she always offered to cook food for parties which no one could complain about.
"Good evening auntie!" We both greeted.
"Come on girls get some plates and come and eat, i made plenty." We immediately piled on all of food we could fit as well as taking two bottles of supermalt too and perched on one of the big sofas. We inhaled our food so fast and were going to get more but Angel felt slightly ill from eating too much so she went to the bathroom. Meanwhile I was on the sofa just finishing my last spoonful of Jollof rice when one of the Uncles attending the party came and sat next to me.
"How did your exams go Joy?" Asked uncle Kofi.
Uncle Kofi was always so interested in my life. Anytime he saw me he felt the need to have a long winding conversation with me which was never necessary. He wasn't even my actual uncle, he was my dads best friend from his Uni days. They don't even speak as much anymore so i don't understand why he always feels the dying need to talk to me.
"Ok i guess." My reply was so bland I hoped the Uncle would get the message and talk to someone else.
"What paper did you do the best on."
"Ummm, well I think I did pretty average on all but I'm pretty confident on the Maths paper I guess."
"Joy oh Joy. You know at your age, i was very good at Maths! I was top of my class, nobody could beat me in any exam." Uncle Kofi boasted. I didn't believe him because Uncle Kwabena and Uncle Kwami also claimed to be top of their class when they were in the same class as him. Honestly!
Already getting bored of the conversation that had barely gone anywhere i said,
"Sorry Uncle Kofi but I have to go check on my friend."
"Don't be too long Joy I need to speak to you about something."
Knowing i wasn't coming back, I swiftly speed walked out of the room to check on Angel. I checked in the bathroom where she said she would be but she wasn't there.
"Odd?" I thought to myself. "Angel said she would be in here." Looking around for her I found myself wondering up the marble staircase to the bedrooms. The house was just magical. If Angel Gabriel was living in this house somewhere I wouldn't be surprised. Everything was so clean and well orientated. I wish I lived here, I could have all the parties I wanted and have so much space to do anything and everything.
