I walked with Barry as we came up to the open front doors of a large mansion. I held my breath as I saw a ton of very important people. I looked at Barry. He was wearing a black tux and a loopy smile. I smiled at his expression.
I looked back into the mansion as we walked in and saw Felicity standing next to a tall broad looking man. Barry caught her eye and waved. She smiled and motioned us toward her. We walked through the crowd of people wearing very expensive pieces of clothing. I tried not to touch any of them.
"Barry, and you must be Johanna, good to finally meet you." The man said as we approached.
"This is Ray Palmer." Felicity introduced him to me. We exchanged a handshake before another man came up behind him. This man I recognized almost immediately as Oliver Queen.
"Barry Allen! Felicity, Ray." He smiled at Barry but merely nodded to the other two. After that his eyes flicked to me. Oliver Queen was once elected the hottest business man in The United States. I had to agree.
"Hey Oliver." Barry smiled. I watched as Ray and Felicity shared a look.
"We better meet the other guests. Have a good time tonight." Ray said before they left. I looked at Oliver as he relaxed his body. He looked at me again and smiled.
"Who is this lovely woman?" He asks Barry.
"Johanna Ames." I hold out my hand and smile. He takes it and shakes.
"You wouldn't happen to be the Johanna Ames who saved all those kids a couple weeks ago?" He asked apperantly interested.
"I would happen to be that Johanna Ames." I grinned. His eyes widen and his eyebrows raise.
"That's incredible, where did you get that type of training?" he asks. Before I get to lie, Ray starts talking on a stage with a podium.
"Good evening everyone." He smiles into the mic. People stop and stare up at him. A waiter comes by with a tray and Barry grabs to glasses of wine. I take mine and thank him silently.
"As you all know, this party is the grand opening of the biggest lab of the joint companies of Queen and Palmer." People clap after he says this. "I would also like to announce that STAR labs will also be part of this fine technically advanced building." More clapping. I turn my head around to cough when I see an older gentleman in a wheelchair and glasses come through the door. He's quite attractive for his age, he has a very pleasant face. He doesn't see me looking at him. I keep watching him as Ray keeps talking. The man moves his wheelchair to the back and nearly out of sight. Something about him seems different. Barry seems to notice me turned around.
"What are you looking at?" He whispers. I turn back to him.
"Umm, the sandwiches." I wink. He smiles and turns his attention back to Ray.
After Ray is done talking the dance floor opens up, however this isn't the high school type of dancing, it is slow dancing. Barry took my hand awkwardly and we became to dance to a string orchestra.
"What do you think?" He smiles at my wide eye gaze.
"It's amazing, how do you know these people?" I whisper with excitement. He shrugs and looks behind me.
"I have my ways." He smiles. I hear someone coming up behind us.
"Mind if I dance with Barry?" Felicity says. I smile and nod before walking away. I see Oliver Queen looking at me. I don't feel like talking to him so I go to the back of the room and off to the shadows. No one notices me as I hover in the back. I see an untouched platter of full wine glasses and grab one. I sip on it absentmindedly.
"If I didn't know better, I would say you were hiding from someone." A male voice says beside me, making me jump. I look and see the man in the wheelchair.
"I'm not hiding from anyone." I say and I immediately realize how childish that sounds.
"Just the people who trained you, am I right Miss. Ames?" He says. I suck a breath in through my teeth.
"You don't have to hide from me, not like you do Barry." He says sympathetically before handing me a piece of paper. "Tomorrow morning at 10. Don't be late." He says before moving his chair away. I hold the paper in my hand. It's an address.
Later that night Barry drives me home and walks me inside my house.
"Thank you, I had a great time." I smile. Barry smiles back.
"Maybe we can do lunch tomorrow, and catch up some more." He winks.
"It's a date, 1 o'clock?" I nod.
"For sure!" He says and kisses me lightly on the mouth.
I still feel his kiss after I go to bed that night.
