Me and Nat were currently in the car on the way to her parents house in Ohio. Currently, my fingers were intertwined with her right hand, resting against my thigh.

I was forcing her to play Taylor Swift the whole ride because she had to be prepared for the concert at the end of the week.

"Baby I love you but can we pleeease listen to something else," Nat pleaded 5 hours into the 35 hour drive. "You have to know these songs by heart. I won't allow you to be seen near me if you don't," I joked, but was very serious about it.

She turned her head to look at my stern face and smirked. "Didn't know you were such a what do you call it? Swiftie," she teased. I gasped, "Okay one, very proud you knew the fandom name and second, don't make fun of me."

Nat squeezed my hand, giggling lightly. "Baby I'm not that clueless. Besides, I did some research on her when we started dating." I awed at the confession, leaning over to kiss her cheek.

"That's so cute Tasha," I cooed, causing her to blush, which doesn't happen very often. "I just wanted to educate myself more in your interests. I mean I had known a lot of her songs before hand, but I kind of fell out of the fandom," she admitted.

"We'll I'm glad I had some part of you becoming a Swiftie," I said sweetly. She smiled at me and brought our interlaced fingers up to her lips, placing a delicate kiss against my knuckles.

She's so cute. I'm sure she doesn't like the term too much, but she's learning to embrace it. I mean really she's just a big cuddly baby under that hard exterior. It's a privilege that I get to witness that.

Just then, my new favorite song came on, invisible string. When I heard it for the first time, I was immediately captivated by the lyrics. It reminded me of Tasha from the start.

I turned my head towards Nat at the start of the melody, softly singing the lyrics.

Green was the color of the grass

Where I used to read at Centennial Park.

I know it's not about eyes, but I liked to think of it that way. Her eyes always held a playful glint, reminding me of all the laughs we shared together, similar to memories one makes at a park.

I continued to sing the lyrics, looking at Tasha the whole time. She, of course, was too busy paying attention to the road to notice my longing gaze.

When I sang

And isn't it just so pretty to think

All along there was some

Invisible string

Tying you to me?

Her eyes briefly met mine and my heart fluttered. I beamed at her, unable to contain how happy I am.

She quickly kissed my hand a few times before returning her attention to the long stretch of road ahead of us.

As the song came to a conclusion, I broke the silence. "This song reminds me of you, you know." Nat squeezed my hand, "oh yeah. Why's that?"

I smiled to myself, playing with the rings that rested on her fingers. "We'll, I know it's kind of cheesy, but your eyes are green like the grass and I don't know...it feels like I was destined to be in your class and meet you. There was always some invisible force pulling me towards you everyday since the first time I laid my eyes on you," I confessed, meeting her gaze at the end of my sentence.

There was so much love and adoration in her eyes and a genuine smile plastered on her face. "Baby you can't say such adorable things when I can't kiss you properly. I love you so so much, that's the sweetest thing," she pouted.

"I love you Tasha and I promise you can make it up to me when we get to the hotel for the night," I smiled. She hummed in agreement, rubbing up and down my thigh.

The remainder of the drive was full of me serenading Nat, making her laugh. Once I felt like she had had enough, I stopped, giving my lungs a breather.

At some point, I had fallen asleep and I woke up to being gently lifted out of the car. I opened my eyes with hooded lids, meeting the gaze of my redhead. "Hey baby, you can rest your eyes a little longer," she cooed.

I just nodded my head, snuggling further into her neck. She kissed along my hairline then walked with me to the door, swiping the card to let us in.

Once inside, she placed me on the bed and grabbed pajamas for the two of us. "You want to change yourself or are you too tired to do that," she asked. "Can you do it it please," I gave her the best puppy dog eyes I could. She laughed, "of course I can."

When we were both dressed for the night, we huddled together under the covers, placing our legs between each other's. My head rested in her chest while her arms draped around my waist.

I hummed, melting into her body. "I can't wait to meet your parents tomorrow, but I'm a little nervous," I admitted. Nat rubbed little circles on my back soothingly. "You have nothing to be nervous about baby. I know they'll love you. You're super competitive too, so you'll get along just fine."

I smiled up at her, "I sure hope so. I want to make a good impression." She placed a chaste kiss on my lips before responding. "There is no doubt in my mind that you will. I promise."

"Okay, I trust you," I responded, getting comfortable in her arms again.

That's how we ended the night, Nat comforting me about my insecurities until we both fell asleep because of exhaustion.
