I was just soooo excited to finish and do the sequel that I had to finish tonight - so enjoy, comment, vote and of course READ THE SEQUEL!!!!!

“Give me the remote, Jake!” Millie screamed at her brother. They were excited for their parents to return.

Man, I couldn’t wait to be a part of this family.

I decided to stay with Charlotte instead of going back to California – there were more important things to be doing right now.

“Hey, you guys” Charlotte said, standing in the door way “stop fighting!”  She placed her hands on her hips and glared at her niece and nephew. I knew that, if she was pregnant, she would make a really great mom.

“Hey, you need any help in the kitchen?” I asked Charlotte, lovingly.

She nodded, “that would be great.” Charlotte had been pretty busy since her sister went on honeymoon. She had her niece and nephew for the two weekends to give her parents respite.

I walked into the kitchen and embraced her in an amorous, affectionate hug. She sighed deeply as I held her close and whispered “I love you.” Ever since I’d stayed with her – and it was just the two of us – things had been great. It just goes to show that Valary really was driving us apart.

I stared down into her dark brown eyes and smiled at the overwhelming rush of love that I felt for her.

She narrowed her eyes. “What are you staring at?” she said with a soft giggle before blushing. I hadn’t seen her do that in a while.

“Have you taken a pregnancy test yet?” I asked curiously.

Charlotte shook her head. “It’s still too soon.”

I held her at an arm’s length, “whatever happens I’m here for you.” As I finished my sentence, her sister walked in.

“Hello?” she called down the hallway. You could hear the kids scream in excitement and rush to greet her.

Charlotte and I stepped out of the kitchen and Jasmine immediately looked up at me and glared.

“I’ll explain later” Charlotte trailed in an effort to ease her sister. It seemed to work as Jasmine softened her gaze.

“Have they behaved?”

“Of course they have! How was Hawaii?” Charlotte chirped.

“Oh, it was gorgeous! We had an amazing time. We’ll have to catch up sometime. How about dinner next week?”

“Sure! We’d love to!” Charlotte smiled.

Jasmine grabbed her children’s bags and we helped her carry them down to the car. Charlotte jugged her sister and we watched them as they drove off.

We walked back into her apartment, hand-in-hand and settled down on the sofa.

“Matt, have you heard anything from Valary?” Charlotte asked.

I was rather surprised – Charlotte had made it clear when I first came back that she was not to be used in conversation.

“Not personally, but obviously Synyster has through Michelle.” To be honest, talking about her with Charlotte made me feel uncomfortable. I just didn’t want to waste my breath.

“And? Has anything happened regarding you, the baby, the father?”

“Do you mean as in our divorce?”

Charlotte nodded.

“The papers are getting mailed out for us to sign. Because we have no children or our own house, things have been relatively easy to carry out. Thank goodness.”

Charlotte relaxed and I could tell that this had been on her mind.

“Valary is back together with the baby’s father. I think it’s better that way. At least they can give him or her a chance at a family that isn’t broken.”

Charlotte nodded – she seemed surprisingly calm about all of this.

“I thought you hated her.” I questioned.

“I did, but then I realised something. How can I ever expect anyone to forgive me for the wrong things I’ve done if I can’t forgive Valary? By keeping a grudge, I’m only prolonging and re-living the pain she caused me. How can I ever move on with my life if she’s always in the back of my mind? If I forgive her – I can forget her and move on.”

I admired Charlotte’s humility.

“I love you, you know that?”

“I do. And I love you.” Charlotte blushed again. Sweet.

Charlotte smiled at me as she moved closer to where I was sitting.

“It means so much to me that you stayed.” Charlotte moved her face close to mine so that our noses were touching.

“I know it does. I’m just glad that you came back to me.” We kissed for a while, until Charlotte pulled away. It seemed that she had something to say.

“Matt, I never intended to leave you – but I wanted you to come after me. Then I would know that you truly loved me.” I felt so happy at that.

“Of course I do. If you are meant to be mine, in time you will be.”

“Johnny talked to you too, huh?” Charlotte giggled.

“What?”

“He said that to me – he called me to see if I was okay and to tell me what a great guy you are.”

“He never told me that.”

“I know. He didn’t want you to know.” I rolled my eyes playfully. I always knew Johnny was like that.

“Matt,”

“Yeah?”

“You know when we first met, at the meet-and-greet?”

I nodded.

“Did you ever imagine that we’d be sitting here, together, on my sofa as a couple?”

“No, it never even crossed my mind.”

Charlotte giggled and moved in to kiss me again.

I couldn’t have been happier. I had her and she had me.

We truly were kindred spirits.
