"Girl, you know good and well you like him," a girl dressed in baggy clothes with shades over her eyes said, carrying her lunch tray out in front of her as she led her friend group toward their usual table.
"Yeah," a second girl joined in as she fixed her black pixie cut, taking her seat at the lunch table right across from her best friend. "There's no way you and Kobe do nothing but sit and read books all night long."
The third and final girl sighed. "Look, you both are going way too deep right now," she said, unzipping her lunch bag and looking inside it. "We're just friends and all we do is study."
"Whatever you say, Brandy." The second girl fidgeted with the mini milk carton on top of her tray before raising an eyebrow at her friend. "Y'all be studying Chemistry up in your room?"
"Monica," Brandy snapped, "quit it. It's not like that."
"Oh, I know what you and Kobe study." The discussion circled back around to the first girl. She took her sunglasses off and looked at Brandy with narrow, sultry eyes. "Y'all study anatomy, don't you?"
Brandy's eyes widened. "Aaliyah!" she gasped, making Monica and Aaliyah double over with laughing as they high-fived each other. "That's not funny—"
