Chapter 22 - Charlotte's P.O.V

I woke up the next morning with a feeling that someone was cutting my head open with a saw that they couldn’t use properly. Man, I was hung-over.

Just as I was rousing from my slumber, my home phone rang. Each ring was like a stone being hurled at my head. I answered it without checking the caller I.D.

“Hello?”

“Hi, where have you been? I’ve been trying to call you all morning.” It was Jenna. I was glad that she was calling, but disappointed that it wasn’t Matt.

“I’ve been sleeping” I mumbled.

“Hung-over?”  She laughed.

“You know me too well. So, what do you want?” I imagined that Jenna was still with the guys, heading back from the tour.

“Nothing, just calling to see if you’re okay. Me, Cameron, Sarah and her new boyfriend are going out for lunch. Do you want to come?”

“Sarah has a new boyfriend?” I asked, surprised.

“Yeah, Corey, he’s cool. You’ll like him.”

“I’m sure I will. So, did she meet him on the tour?” I said in a hostile tone.

“The tour?”

“Well, I’m assuming you stayed with Avenged Sevenfold. It’s been a week and you haven’t called once” I retorted, my tone growing more aggressive.

“We were giving you space. And actually, we came home the same day as you did.” I was relieved at that.

“Really? Well that’s a relief.”

“So, have you heard from Matt? How was Jasmine’s wedding?”

“No, and terrible. I hated the fact that her dad was there – and get this – her sisters call my aunts auntie! I mean what the hell?” I laughed trying to make light of the situation.

“Seriously? That’s shit!” she exclaimed. I loved my best friend. “So, will you meet us at the usual place then?”

I agreed and got myself out of bed, in the shower and got dressed. I looked in the mirror and saw the bags under my eyes. I grabbed my foundation and tried to hide the fact that I was so hung-over.

Walking down the high street I noticed my friends sitting at a table outside of our favourite restaurant. I waved as I walked over to them.

Sarah stood up and gave me a hug “Hiya, this is Corey.”

I smiled and said hello as I sat down. I immediately began to feel like a third wheel – for both couples; so really, I was like a fifth wheel.

“So, how did you two meet?” I asked, directing the question to Sarah and Corey.

“At a concert.”

“Oh, yeah, I forgot about that! So while I was off with Avenged sevenfold, you were all at a Stone Sour concert! I can’t believe I missed it.”

“It was awesome, you should have been there.” Cameron said. I’m guessing he got my ticket.

“So, did one of you call me last night? When I was at the wedding? I missed a call and before I could see who it was my phone died.” I saw the look of confusion on my friend’s faces and a wave of dread crashed over me.

“No, did you not put it on charge?”

I shook my head. “I completely forgot! Awh, I really want to know who it is now.”

“Yeah, I know you. This is going to bug you for ages.” I laughed and nodded.

“So, tell me. What happened after I left?”
