hi! this is inspired by one of my absolute favorite reddie fics called sea salt! it's by trashbinss and it is absolutely amazing! i love it so much and you should 100% go check it out if you have not!

(it's not exactly like theirs or a copy, the story just made the think of a few things that turned into this lil story)

The ride was not too long. or at least it didn't feel long. She told me to take medicine to help me sleep, so i did. Before i left, before i got in the car, before anything, she was distant. Meaner than usual. She isn't mean, she's just overbearing. Okay, maybe she is a little mean. She was tired of me, i think. Not that i'd done anything. Because i hadn't. She said she needed a break from me.

We loaded my things in the car and we drove. We drove longer than I wanted to be in the car for. I woke, my once bright skin in the sunlight now dark in the moonlight. My head bobbing against the seat and window. "Eddie!" i heard. Talk about nails on a chalkboard. Waking up to her yelling wasn't the most pleasant thing, that's for sure. "Eddie get up honey! We're almost there." For some reason she insisted on driving me all the way there and staying at different hotels while she made her way home, to get the whole "Florida Experience", her words.

She pulled into gated off neighborhood after talking to a security guard about why we were there and where we were headed. I looked to my left and saw sand, an ocean, trees, a boardwalk. And to my right we're houses. Big houses. New houses. She pulled into a driveway with a beautiful blossoming tree in the front yard and lots of windows on the home.

I gathered my things while looking up at the starry sky and bright moon. I shut the trunk and went around the the left side of the car. "Bye mommy." I said quietly. "Goodbye my little Eddie Bear now you be good for your auntie and uncle." She commanded. "I will, Love you mother" I smiled at her. Only if she knew how ready i was to get away from her. And maybe that's mean. But i'm 17. I'm old enough to not be bothered by her at all moments of my life. "I love you my eddie." She pulled me by the collar and planted a wet kiss on my pink cheek.

I turned and walked towards the two big doors, struggling with my rolling suitcases and keeping my other two bags on my back and shoulder.

I finally got up to the doors and turned to see my mother pulling out of the driveway. Guess she's not even gonna come in and say hello. Finally I mustered up the courage to ring the doorbell.

I was greeted with a warm smile, gray blue eyes that lit up like stars, tan skin with little freckled constellations all over the place, and blond hair with pieces of blond that were almost white. How is this my mother's sister!?

She pulled me in for a hug. She smelt of pineapple. No one could tell she was my mother's sister, but if she was, anyone could tell she was my mother's younger sister. "Hello eddie. God, has it been ages." Aunt Jennifer had a southern accent. Not exactly what i expected. "Do you remember me sugar?" She said pulling away from me and looking at my face. I smiled. "I don't.. i'm sorry"

"Oh, don't be baby. last time i saw you, you were still learning to count to 100."  She turned towards the kitchen, placing her tan skinned hand on my shoulder, her fingers filled with rings. and guiding me there. "Let me introduce you to everyone, Eddie!"

She walked me over to a man, standing in front of the stove, who seemed to be cooking away. "This is your Uncle Mark, my husband." Uncle Mark had a short beard that was just reaching peaks of gray. He had oval shaped glasses and dark eyes as well as dark hair and was fairly taller than my Aunt Jennifer. "It's nice to meet you Eddie, i've heard so much about you! So exciting having you stay here with us all summer." Oh yeah, i'll be here all summer. Away from my friends. Stan.. Mike. Nevertheless i smile, trying to forget. Uncle Mark pulls me in for a hug and lets go shortly after.

Uncle Mark walks to the foot of the stairs and yells, "Kids, come down please!" Oh no. they have kids? His mother hadnt told him that. What if these kids don't like Eddie? What if they're his age?? What if they think Eddie is going to be taking all of their parents attention.
