After two more weeks, I was released from the hospital. I got diagnosed with depression and social anxiety, I was starting to fake happiness just for Morgan, even though every day is a struggle. The court decided that Morgan can adopt me, which she will. Everything's already been shipped there, I just need to move my things in. Sadly however, I have to spend a year in a foster home, and I'm going to miss Morgan. If only the adoption prices was shorter...
"Bye Morgan, I love you," I whispered, giving her a tight hug, a tear slipping down my face.
"I love you too, so much. These people will be your parents for a year, so use manners. Stay strong, please," Morgan said, tearing up. I clutched all of what I had: my ragged teddy bear I got for my sixth birthday from my parents and a family picture. The rest was at Morgan's, she said my foster parents would take care of me. I surely hope so, because I'm very, very scared.
"Ready?" Katy asked, and I nodded. Katy was very nice and polite, and my social worker.
"We should be there in about an hour, so make yourself comfortable," she said, turning on the radio.
-an hour later-
"Here we are!" She announced happily. She told me I have two older brothers, one 17 and one 19, who are both living there. They must make good money because this house looks like a good size. It was cute, it had tan exterior and a bright red door, complete with two rocking chairs on the porch. I said nothing, and got out of the car. Since mum and daddy died, the only person I've talked to is Morgan. Katy doesn't like that.
"Relax, it'll be fine! You're so high strung," Katy encouraged, giving me a big smile. My heart was rattling loudly against my chest, and butterflies swarming my stomach as we walked onto the front porch. A woman about 5'6 with dirty blonde hair and crystal blue eyes, looking around her mid thirties, greeted us. A man with dark blue eyes and light brown hair, around 6'0, and looked like the woman's age.
"Hi ladies, come in!" The woman smiled, looking at me with joy and energy in her blue orbs.
"I'm so glad you're here! Just set your stuff anywhere!" She said, leading us all to the family room. It was big. It had a two love seat couches facing each other across the fireplace, and above the fireplace was a TV and lots of family photos. On the other half of the room was a huge bookshelf, and a few chairs, lamp, and a small table near it. Very homey and welcoming. I sat next to Katy on the couch, Madison and John, my foster parents, on the other.
"Hi! My name is Katy Hills and I am a social worker. Today, I am going through rules and regulations doctors have given me for you to provide the best care possible for Mary," Katy said, then talked about all the rules with Madison a- I mean, mum and daddy - about my medicines and what to do if something happens, all of that. I swear, Morgan's words of staying strong are the only reason I'm not falling apart right now.
