x. Second Chance

"Yeah, but she's not dead, so it doesn't answer her question," Alex sassed.

"Yeah. I think she knows what we mean," Luke shot back.

"I'm sorry for your loss," Reggie said quietly.

"Thanks. Sorry I got mad," Julie said. "You guys are kinda good."

"Kinda?" I laugh.

"Y-Y-You know that's like 25 years of rust just getting dusted off," Luke smiled.

"Yeah."

"Do you play the piano too?" Reggie asks.

"No. No, I don't play. That was my mom's stuff in there."

"No way. She's an amazing songwriter," Luke complimented.

"She was. Wait. How would you know?"

"There's a song on the piano. If it's hers... Your mom was really talented," Luke explained.

It was silent for awhile before Julie spoke.

"I guess... if you need a place to stay, you can stay in here. There's a bathroom in the back and a couch that turns into a bed if you still use any of that stuff."

"Dibs on the shower!" Reggie exclaimed. We all stared at him. "I just really like showers and sometimes the occasional bath."

"And this is the guy you like?" Alex whispers in my ear. I smack his arm making him wince.

"This... This is just too weird," Julie stated.

"Yeah," I reply.

A bright light blinded my vision. It felt like my soul flew out of my body, do I even have a soul? Air blew my hair out of my face and I land on a surface.         Opening my eyes, I see we've poofed on the Orpheum sign. I sat between Reggie and Luke. I let my head rest on Reggie's shoulder. I felt him stiffen, then relax. I silently giggled.

"Huh?" Alex asked.

"Hey, I know being dead isn't our first choice, but, I mean, it sure is easy getting around," Luke said confidently.

"Easy for you, maybe. I lost my shirt on that one," Reggie said.

I blushed and stared straight ahead.

"Ooh, never mind! There it is."

Luke chuckles as the sign buzzed, with the lights turning on.

"Okay, so, why'd you bring us here? Just another painful reminder of where we never got to play," Alex said sadly.

"Thanks, Luke. Another reminder of the worst day of my life," I add flatly.

Luke instantly grabbed my hand and gave it a squeeze. "I mean, guys, the game isn't over yet. I'm telling you, we've been given a second chance," he said optimistically. "Let's find some music. Let's see how many clubs we can hit before sunrise."

With that, he poofed out, with Reggie following.

"You coming?" I ask Alex.

"Yeah." Alex smiled.

"Let's go!" I say as I grab his hand and poofed out.

We had decided to poof back to the garage to practice. When we arrived, Julie was playing the piano. Not only that, but she was singing. She sounded like and angel. Her back was towards us, and she sang her heart out. I didn't know whether to be in awe or confusion. There was something about Julie that I couldn't put my finger on.

My thoughts distracted me and before I knew it, Julie had let out her final note.

Dang that took forever. I've been procrastinating this chapter forever. Sorry for the wait. School has been busy but I have 22 more days until summer!! During summer break I'll be able to write more. Maybe I'll even start those other stories I've been thinking about. Idk. Life's been cray dude.
