Understanding is only the beginning .. [Sequel to YTYU]

::Graduation!::

Everyone scurried around getting into alphabetical order while Amanda and I went over to Mr. Heights.

“Speeches Girls?”

“Right here,” We said holding them up.

“Excellent!” He smiled. “Remember Ellanae you’re going last cause you have to say the closing speech.”

“I know,” I said.

“Alright, Line up girls.”

Amanda and I got into the line and in a matter of seconds, the line began moving downstairs and everyone made their way backstage.

You could hear all the buzzing from all the people in the crowd talking, then there was a tap of the microphone and the place hushed.

“Good evening ladies and gentlemen, Parents, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Brothers, Sisters, Cousins. Everyone. Good evening. As you all know, I am principal Brooks and it is  my pleasure to welcome you all to this evening’s graduation service for our graduates. Could you all stand for the national anthem.”

There was more buzzing as everyone stood up and we all stood still backstage as the national anthem and the pledge went on.

“God Bless America,” Principal Brooks smiled, “Now I won’t keep you much longer, Let’s have a round of applause for Amanda Aiwing.”

There was a loud round of applause as Amanda made her way on stage.

“Good evening Parents, Grandparents, Brothers, sisters, Aunts, Uncles, My fellow Graduates, Good evening.”

“Alright, the moment we’ve all been waiting for. Allow me to re-introduce back to the stage Principal Brooks to hand out the certificates to our fellow graduates.”

Claps and whistles filled the hall as Principal Brooks walked back on stage all smiles.

There were a couple people from the grade below us, helping out with the distribution of certificates.

“First up we have Amanda Aiwing.”

The auditorium cheered as Amanda made her way back on stage, accepting her certificate and shaking Ms. Brooks hand before looking into the crowd, Smiling and having a couple pictures snapped, then made her way off the stage.

Suprisinly, I wasn’t nervous.

“Chresanto August!”

There was an uproar of cheers and screams and whistles.

Everyone chuckled as Chresanto stepped on the stage slowly, then skipped over to Principal Brooks.

“Congrats sweetheart,”

“Thank you,” He said bowing before taking the certificate.

He turned and smiled for the pictures before walking up to the end of the stage and holding up his certificate.

“WOOOO!”

“Woo!” Went the crowd.

Chresanto ran off stage and everyone laughed.

Some more people accepted their certificates and we all cheered.

“Dejanelle Brooks!”

“WOOOOOO SON! THAT’S MY GIRL RIGHT THERE!”

We didn’t even have to look around to realize it was Chres screaming like that.

There was an outburst of laughter as Deja’s cheeks turned red.
