October 13th, Year 1782
It was all too tensed and nerve-wracking, to the point that even the king was tearing up as he watched his royal consort go through the tumultuous process just to give birth to their child.
Heavy breathing and a chatter of prayers plus reassurance from the servants....
And then a loud cry filled the room.
Yi San had his eyes closed as he held onto Deok-Im's hand.... His heart races and his breathing slows down.
Slowly opening his eyes, the king grins and almost immediately....he leans down and pecks Deok-Im's lips.
His expression filled with glee and amazement.
His first child and....with the woman he so loves.
As the midwife and Court Lady Seo clean up the new and first royal heir, Yi San leans down and repeatedly pecks his beloved's hands.
'Thank you Deok-Im ah.....'
The king had to snap himself out of cloud nine.... He was amazed and at the sight of the little baby who was in Court Lady Seo's arms. He grins at his royal consort and carefully reaches out to take the infant in his arms.
Court Lady Seo smiles at the new father and finally hands the infant to the king.
As the midwife cleaned the UiBin and fixed her scars, both her and Court Lady Seo leave to give the royal family some privacy.
Yi San had tears in his eyes as he gazed adoringly at his son and consort.
With a hushed and gentle whisper, he thanks Deok-Im repeatedly.
'We've truly become a family.... Thank you so much for this Deok-Im ah.'
Deok-Im smiled as she gazes at her infant. This baby was also her first baby, somehow in some sort of way.... it took at least half of the pain that she had felt away.
Carefully handing the infant to Deok-Im, The king grins as he gazes at his own family.
He was delighted and blessed but the same could not be said otherwise of the royal consort.
UiBin Sung knew very well that this was not some sort of romance novel or fictional fantasy world.
This was the reality of her life now.
As soon as she gave birth to her son, she knew that the little infant would be taken away from her and would have the queen as his adopted mother.
Because the queen could not produce an heir, she would have to adopt the new infant prince and make him legally his son.
Deok-Im knew of this reality but decided to delay the realization later.
Right now, at this moment....
What was much more important for her is to enjoy this time with her husband and first born child.
'He looks a lot like you, Jeonha...'
Yi San grins in delight as he boops his son's tiny nose and shakes his head.
'No, I'm relieved that he looks more like you..... It would be alarming if he were to look more like his father.'
Realizing that the king was making a joke, Deok-Im chuckles as she leans down to peck the baby's forehead.
San smiles as he strokes his wife's hair and sighs.
Looking back up, Deok-Im smiles as she speaks in a gentle tone.
'Jeonha.... Have you decided on a name yet?'
San nods and grins as he speaks in a proud tone.
'Yi Sun..... My first born child and son. He'll be crown prince and someday king of Joseon one day in the future.'
Deok-Im grins as she reaches her arm out to wipe the king's tears.
'And I'm sure.... He will become a great king like his father one day. Future historians would say how great of a king you were Jeonha.'
Gently squeezing Deok-Im's hand, Yi San was simply happy at that moment.
He was probably the happiest man in the world.
He had the love of his life beside him and now a baby.... An heir to his dragon throne.
JeongJo of Joseon was now a father.
As the family took in their new blessing, announcements were posted all around Joseon with the king's message to his subjects.
It was a message talking about the new blessings that have come their way.
And for a while everyone had believed and hoped for the new frontier of Joseon.
One that was young and filled with spirits. A new harem that symbolized youth and newfound hopes plus dreams for it's kingdom.
