"What the hell is even going on at the moment?" I whispered to myself, running my fingers through my hair. Finn and Clarke had joined Bellamy, Charlotte and I in the tent, and at the moment, everything was silent. I had started pacing; I couldn't stand still. My nerves were too shaken.
"Zen, hey, calm down," Bellamy said to me, grabbing a hold of my shoulders. I shrugged him off, stepping back.
"You just hung someone who was innocent and now we're standing in here with the killer, I can not 'calm down'," I snapped at him, not because I was mad at him, I was too hyper. I wasn't happy with what he did, and he sure as hell lost some of my respect, but peer pressure is a bitch, especially if you're the leader of the peers.
"Bring the girl out, Bellamy!" Murphy yelled from the camp. I jumped slightly at his words, I wasn't prepared for it.
"Charlotte, why?" Bellamy asked her, switching his gaze from her to me. I felt like I was going to collapse, my knees were starting to shake. I was never good at handling chaos, and quite frankly, I haven't gotten any better at it.
"I was just slaying my demons, like you told me," Charlotte answered back, tears on the brim of her eyes. I did feel bad, she was now Murphy's target, and someone as young as her couldn't fend for herself. At first I was confused at what she was saying, but then it hit me.
"Bellamy, what the hell is she talking about?" Clarke said sternly to him, leaning her palms against the table. My teeth were clenched. He must have given her a pep talk while we were in the cave when the acid fog hit, and I was still asleep.
"She misunderstood me-" Bellamy started before I interrupted him.
"Bellamy, she's a twelve year old kid," I said, "of course she's going to take you seriously when you tell her to kill the people that scare her. She doesn't understand metaphors."
"Zen, I didn't mean for any of this to happen," he told me, looking right into my eyes. He looked worried, scared even. He didn't know what to do. I just sighed and looked away. I was lost, too.
"Bring the girl out now!" Murphy called out again. I clenched my fists in anger, and frustration.
"Please don't let them hurt me," Charlotte said to Bellamy, looking up at him with a scared look in her eye. I'm sure that what I had said about her being a murderer upset her, but it was the truth. I couldn't sugarcoat it, I couldn't bring myself to.
"If any of you have any bright ideas speak up," Bellamy said, then rolled his eyes when no one answered. I had no idea what to do. "Now you say nothing?" he said, aiming to Finn.
"Those are your boys out there," Finn answered back, keeping his arms crossed. I couldn't tell what he felt about the whole situation, but I did know that he wasn't liking it.
"This is not my fault," Bellamy said, now starting to sound pissed off. "If she-" he pointed to Clarke, "had listened to me, those idiots would still be building the wall!"
"You want to build a society, princess? Let's build a society, bring her out!" Murphy yelled again. I could hear him pacing around the front of the tent, I could almost hear the steam coming out of his ears.
"No! Please, Bellamy," Charlotte said to him, grabbing onto the hem of his shirt. It made me a bit calm when I saw how trusting she was of him, it was different. You don't see a lot of that down here.
"Charlotte, it's going to be okay," he said to her, bending down to look into her eyes. "Nothing is going to happen to you."
I felt a breeze of air, and looked over to an open flap at the back of the tent. I heard the mumbling from Murphy and the other delinquents outside, and suddenly had an idea, for the first time since this blew up.
