Everything hurt. Her back a blaze of damage sending terrible signals to the rest of her body to follow suit. She remembered Yeji's hands, her softness, her body and her chocolate eyes..

and then her hands, her painful, fire controlling illusionist hands.

"I'm so sorry, Ryujin." Yeji said, watching as the raven-haired blinked awake. She seemed furious, betrayed even, and for that Yeji gulped nervously. "Ryujin your-"

"Yeji! We have to go, warriors are on the way." Another Illusionist said, having opened the door in a panic.

"Take Ryujin, get to Lia, she can take care of her off the radar until we're in the clear." Yeji said, disappointed she couldn't explain anything to the poor girl. She stood, eyes red and all but running out with sais in her hands.

Ryujin passed out again, feeling drowsy as she looked into more red eyes..

--

"I need you to take care of her."

"She's a warrior? Why would I do that? So I can get myself killed?!"

"Yeji asked me to bring her here. She trusts you to take care of her. This girl isn't just a warrior if Hwang Yeji wants her with us."

Ryujin groaned into her hands, her head throbbing as she overheard the conversation just at the doorstep. She awoke, weakly falling off the horse. That got the pairs attention.

"Hey, easy easy." The one Ryujin presumbed to be Lia said. Her voice was soft, yet mature, and with a small wadle her arms helped the raven-haired to stand.

Lia gave her a look, one of concern before she watched the rider get back on the horse.

"For Yeji, Lia. She's never wrong."

"Yeah yeah, whatever. Just get out of here.. Oh! And tell Yeji that I'm not a babysitter." Lia said, to which Ryujin looked up, chuckling.

"A babysitter huh?" Ryujin was still woozy, and had no idea what was going on. She did know two things though.

Lia was off the radar.

Yeji was someone in a powerful position among Illusionists.

"Well, she drops people off and expects me to look after them for so long. I have enough trouble keeping warriors off my back by myself. Let alone with a stranger that's probably being looked for by warriors." Lia sighed, frustrated before leading Ryujin into the house.

"Yeji seems like an ass." Ryujin said, falling onto a couch and groaning when her back hit the cushions.

"An ass? No. Can she be a bit much? Yes." Lia clarified, going to fetch some water from the kitchen. "She's quite kind, caring. She wants people to see the truth about us to end this neverending war." Lia came back, handing Ryujin the glass.

"War? Please, Illusionist's are just rebels at this point. There is no war." Ryujin said, taking a sip.

"You don't know the half of it. You probably came from the nearest kingdom. There's barley any action there. But, everywhere else there's almost always blue and red flames on borders and death at every corner." Lia said, sitting down on an adjacent couch. She watched Ryujin, the way she tilted her head and brought her lips to the cup.

No wonder Yeji didn't kill her. But, surely there had to be more.

"Look, I don't know who you are, but I need to leave and get back to my kingdom." Ryujin said, eyebrows scrunched when she stretched to put the cup down.
