Dante, as usual wanted to rush the wedding.

He pouted and stomped his feet like a baby when I told him I wanted a spring March wedding.

"Isn't this enough of a statement for now?" I waved the dainty band adorned with a stunning solitaire rock.

"No." He blinked slowly.

I just shook my head at him as he followed me around trying to convince me why it would be better if we were to tie the knot sooner. He even made me sit through a 2 hour slideshow he prepared with even more reasons.

-

Now, in December, our wedding preparations were getting increasingly even more hectic.

I admired the ring around my finger lovingly as my other hand held tightly to a takeaway bag. I was on my way to Dante's office, wanting to surprise him with lots of $1.50 sushi.

"Hi, Mrs De Luca! Should I tell Dante you're here?" The receptionist called out.

"No, it's okay. I'll go up to surprise him." I smiled.

5 months had passed by being engaged to him. However, I was still giddy with excitement whenever I was going to see him.

I flung open his office door, not even bothering to knock.

"Look what I got!" I dramatically waved the bag.

He tiredly glanced up from his work but I could see his eyes lighting up as they found their way to the food in my hands.

He encircled me with his hands and kissed me lovingly on the head. It amazes me how gentle he could be one minute and the next he would be tying me up in all sorts of different positions in the bedroom.

"I forgot to get spoons though and we have some chawanmushi..." I trailed off.

"A husband's work is never done." He muttered, heading off to the floor pantry.

"Fiance." I reminded him.

The shadows around him flickered in annoyance. He absolutely hated how we hadn't had our wedding yet.

Making myself comfortable in his big chair, I fumbled through his desk. I knew I had secretly kept extra packets of soy sauce somewhere. However, I stumbled on something much worse. Something I wished I never laid eyes upon.

It was a detective file. One of a Luke Parker. I flipped through the photographs and entries until the very last one was dated a year ago.

Why would Dante hide this from me?

I knew I had to do some more digging without causing suspicion. So I quickly shoved the file back in the drawer.

I smiled and laughed and listened throughout dinner. But at the back of my mind, a creepy sensation was growing bigger and bigger. Until one day, it was too hard to ignore it.

-

It was almost routine for me to surprise Dante at his office at least once a week.

So I almost didn't bother knocking. Luckily, I caught myself in time when I noticed his office door was already ajar.

My heart dropped to ground as I saw a familiar scent engulfing the room.

"Minthe, you know I cant..."

"Why not?" Her shriek pierced the room.

Dante pursed his lips in thought as her heels clacked around him noisily.

"Why not?" Her voice reduced to a purr, one made for seduction.

"You did it last time. Didn't you?"

Last time? Oh right. According to historians, Hades was unfaithful.

Although, I had gained my memories back, I could never recall a time where Dante was unfaithful to me.

And despite my questions about them, he wouldn't address them.

Her smile got wider as she took notice of me and my broken gaze.

"History repeats. Doesn't it, my love?"

I watched until I couldn't anymore. Once her lips pressed onto his, I left.

-

"Are you okay?" I felt numb till his voice.

"Yes." I whispered.

"You barely touched ur sashimi. And I know you love salmon."

Both of us could feel the distance between us. I stayed silent about his affair. I wondered how long it took for him to confess.

But with each passing night, he stayed silent and so have I.

I felt his desperation, his need to connect us again. He tried almost anything really.

"Would you like to go ice skating again?" His small hopeful smile nudge into my tattered heart.

"No."

His shoulders visibly deflate.

I stood up from my seat, no longer feeling my appetite but more rather visibly sick.

Dante rushed to pick up my plate before placing it away in the kitchen.

Then, he quickly rushed to my side. I walked into our bedroom with him following me like a lost puppy.

I took my towel and some night clothes.

I made it into the bathroom before he spoke again.

"Are you going to shower?" He was still right behind me.

"Yes." I slammed the door in his face.

I tried to ignore him as I hear him pacing behind the door.

My heart lunges as I could hear him sigh deeply.

I heard him sit on the bed for a few seconds before my front door opened and shut again.

I sighed in relief yet dread.

Was he going to see Minthe?
