020 ≈ (Y/N)'s Normal Adventure, Complete With A Potential Horror Movie

Cursing as he emerged from the forest was Ren, with Sayuri walking in front of him, her face incredibly exhausted.

Damn. I'll be on good behavior since she had to deal with Ren alone this entire time.

"HEY! SAYURI!!" You yelled, waving so they could see you. Sayuri's eyes went to you and she brightened up significantly, even giving you a smile as she started jogging. Ren, on the other hand, looked quite conflicted, his face shifting from relief to annoyance.

I am offENDED.

When she reached you, she gently hugged you, letting out a small sigh. You sympathetically patted her head.

"Ren, what did you do to her?" You asked as the boy neared you two. He seemed to get over his conflicting feelings, frowning as he crossed his arms.

"I didn't do anything," He needlessly protested. "I was just being my normal self."

You pulled a skeptical face. He whacked your head, making you let go of Sayuri to soothe the area.

"You have no room to talk." He criticized you. "Since when were you so caring?"

"Since I wanted to make Sayuri less stressed about dealing with us."

Ren made a disgusted face and you kicked him in the stomach. He wheezed, hunching over in pain.

"Every time — " He paused to take a breath. "Every time I'm with you, I feel betrayed."

Sayuri flicked his forehead in response and he collapsed from shock.

"That settles it. Sayuri will eternally be on Team (Y/N)." Sora's cawing caught your attention and you looked up at her. She pointed her beak to the town and you noticed the sun starting to set. "We should get going. It'll be dark soon."

Sayuri nodded, helping Ren off the floor and the three of you walked through the gates of the small town.

After seeing you be serious for once, Ren probably felt like he needed to step up because he didn't make one stupid comment the entire time you walked through the streets.

Well, street, singular. Since it was a small village, there was just one main road with the houses centered around it. There were a few people standing by the edges of the road with quite fearful looks on their faces. You spotted a few women in kimonos huddled outside of a building. The moment they caught your eye, their eyes widened and they covered their mouths with their hands, turning away quickly. Their reaction made you feel reassured in your decision to ask Bearnice to wait outside the gates with Sora until you came back. If they were reacting this strongly to a foreign girl, who knew how they'd be with a gigantic bear.

While you and Sayuri waited to the side (Sayuri because she couldn't talk to them and you because it was unlikely they would trust you in the first place), Ren approached a group of men who appeared to be blacksmiths. You couldn't hear what they were saying, but when Ren started talking, almost all of them walked away, leaving only an elderly man.

The two of them continued to talk in quiet voices before Ren bowed and walked back to the duo.

"What'd he say?" You asked.
