"Are you ok?"

"A little shaken up. I didn't want to clear the house by myself," Adriana says

"Thank you for not doing that. Glad you called," I rub her face before pulling her into a hug.

I called some of my buddies that work for the Toronto Police to check the house.

"They left this. I think I know who it is," She hands me a paper and I read it.

I fold the paper back up and stuff it in my pocket, "Pack some bags. You're staying with me," I tell her and she nods.

"Adriana!" Adriana pulls away from me at her name being called

"Amanda!" Adriana runs into the arms of her best friend.

I've met Amanda a few times thanks to her older brother. She has brown skin a bit darker then My Ana. She always keeps her hair natural and has glasses.

Amanda's been gone for the month since her and her husband travel as a job.

"Are you ok?" Amanda asks

"I'm fine. I missed you," Adriana hugs her friend again.

"When I got your text we had just gotten into the house. I left as soon as we got all the bags in. I was worried," Amanda sighs, "Austin's freaking out like the big brother he is."

"Let Austin know she's ok. She's gonna stay with me until I know everything is safe," I say walking up to them

"Damien Carvelli. Never thought I'd see the day when you get a girlfriend. Especially since it's my best friend," Amanda says looking up at me.

"Your brother said the same thing. I'm starting to think you guys are praying on my downfall," I say

"I will be praying on your downfall if you break Adriana's heart," she narrows her eyes at me.

"She's in good hands," I assure, taking Adriana's hand.

"I just wanted to make sure you were ok," Amanda focus' back on Adriana, "I need to get home. Call me tomorrow. Keep me updated," Amanda hugs Adriana again before leaving.

"We can go get your things," I tell my girl

She nods and we go inside her house. There's investigators taking pictures of the scene. I know they wouldn't do this for a regular break in, but when I'm a commissioner and Adriana's a Deputy, there's bonuses.

We get paid more then the Toronto Police since they're a city Service. We're all of Ontario.

We walk upstairs and Into Adriana's room. It's a white and grey themed room with hints of gold and black accents.

I stand and wait as Adriana packs some bags. She told me she's was supposed to be setting up her security system next month when she was fully settled. I'll make sure it gets done.

"Bring whatever you need. for hot weather. You're coming to Miami with us," I tell more then suggest.

"Damien..." Adriana says with an unsure tone

"I'm not leaving you here, Adriana. I'll go crazy if I'm across the continent and you're not with me.

She comes out of her closet with a sigh and a duffel bag. She looks at me, silently before nodding.

"Thank you."
