The Solaran Empire is located on the eastern two-thirds of the Continent of Episeles. It is divided into three factions; The Magi of the Wellspring, practitioners of magic who dwell in the Valgrind Mountain Ranges to the south, The Hunters of the Spindlewood, located in the west of the empire, a rather isolated and private group who pride their independence, and the Paladins of Empyrean, an elite corps of soldiers who guard the people and the capital city of Empyrean.
Below is an excerpt from my journal where I have written in organized detail, descriptions of the story, including characters, locations, and lore.
"The Solaran Empire is governed by three primary bodies; The Emperor, The Chief Consul, and the Triumvirate. Each of these governing bodies plays an essential role in the management of the empire, and each holds certain amounts of power over the other two, ensuring no one group becomes too powerful.
The Triumvirate is a government body comprised of three individuals; The High Paragon of the Empyrean Order, The Alpha Hunter of the Spindlewood, and The Grandmaster of the Wellspring. These individuals rule over their aforementioned groups and/or territories, and represent the interests of their people in the larger Solaran Empire.
The Emperor is the elected rule and figurehead of the Solaran Empire, appointed by members of the Triumvirate. The Emperor assists in settling disputes between the empire's territories when issues cannot be resolved by the Triumvirate and Chief Consul. The Emperor also represents all citizens of the empire in all international matters.
The position of Chief Consul is one appointed to by the Emperor but approved by the Triumvirate. The Chief Consul represents the interests of the average citizen of Solaras, those who do not fall under the authority of The High Paragon, The Alpha Hunter, or The Grandmaster, and their respective territories.
Each group represented in the Triumvirate also has their own separate government system. For example, The Wellspring is ruled by the Major Arcana, a group of twenty-two masters, one representative from each of the schools of magic, and overseen by the Grandmaster. (For more information, see section on respective territories). The Soalran Triumvirate is assembled when there exist matters that may effect multiple or all represented territories. A motion requires a two-thirds majority to pass in the Triumvirate. The matter is then brought to the Chief Consul for review. If the Chief Consul believes the issue may also impact the common man, he or she has the ability to to call for a retrial of the issue where further details can be discussed. A second vote is held, this time with the Chief Consul. In the event of a tie, the Emperor has final say."
This kind of summarizes how The Solaran Empire functions, and is basic knowledge necessary for the story, though it will be explained narratively through the books.
The Solaran Chronicles will consist of three books, and prefaced by three, ten chapter novellas. Each of the novellas will explore one of the three factions (Magi, Hunters, Paladins), and introduce one or more of the main characters. They will help introduce the readers to the world and introduce the main conflict that drives these three characters to meeting each other and beginning the story at large.
