"𝐌𝐀𝐌𝐀, 𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐖𝐄𝐆𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐋𝐈𝐁𝐑𝐀𝐑𝐘𝐓𝐎𝐃𝐀𝐘?" nine year old sanaii asked her mother, adeya. she looked down at her daughter, "i thought you wanted to go to the park?" sanaii shook her head.
"i want some more books! i couldn't get any at the library from school.." she trailed off, looking up at her mother. sanaii loved reading books. any kind of books— whether it was a picture book or if it was a small chapter book, she'll read it.
most of the time, she would get teased or picked on in school for being such a 'nerd' or for her to be so quiet and not socialize with others.
"alright then, guess we going to the library." adeya shrugged, going upstairs to grab their jackets, her purse, and car keys. sanaii's father, desmond, was currently working late shifts as a doctor— an orthopedic surgeon specifically.
she puts sanaii's jacket on her and puts hers on as well, walking out the house and locking it behind her. they went over and got in, cranking the car up. "you in yo seatbelt, right?" "yes ma'am." she nodded, now driving over to the community library.
𝗦𝗜𝗟𝗞𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗦 𝗟𝗜𝗕𝗥𝗔𝗥𝗬.
they walked in the building, greeting the young lady at the front desk with a smile. sanaii walked over to the chapter book section, holding her moms hand.
"dang it mom, i don't wanna be here!! it smells weird!" a kid whined from beside them, making their heads turn. a kid with short, spikey, blond hair squirming from a woman that looks like the exact copy of him, except her hair is flatter.
must be his mom or something.. "you need to give that boy a new book goddamnit! don't test me, or i'll beat your ass as SOON as we get home." she gritted her teeth at him, making him groan.
a damn shame... adeya shook her head, she softly grasped her child's shoulders and turned them away from the two. "let's hurry up and get these books, yeah?" she whispered, sanaii was still looking at the bratty little boy.
that's the boy in my class.. i wonder what his quirk is.. she shrugged and turned away with two small chapter books in her arms, walking to the front desk.
little did she know, the boy was staring at her too..

"okay so, can someone tell me what's the answer to this right here?" the teacher, ms. samuel, pointed to the board, a math problem being presented.
12 x 3 = ___ both sanaii and katsuki raised their hands at the same time. ms samuel smiled, looking over at sanaii. "it's 36, ma'am." she puts her hand down.
ms samuel clapped her hands together and nodded, "correct again!" she erased the problem and wrote a new one.
katsuki looked at her from the side, confused on how she got the answer so fast. "now, somebody answer this one– somebody other than sanaii."
katsuki raised his hand again, "it's obviously 23!" he said confidently, a little too confidently. the class went silent, "uh k-kacchan, i think you meant 22.." a green haired boy, midoriya, whispered.
the red eyed boy glared at him, "o-obviously i meant that!!" he crossed his arms, embarrassed. sanaii snickered, catching katsuki's attention.
"and what're you laughing at, huh?" he looked at her with a grimace. she faced him, her dark red eyes boring into his. "it's 24, neither of y'all were right." she bluntly told them, and faced the front again.
i can't wait for recess.. i should push her off the swings and show her who's bos— the recess bell interrupted the 10 year olds thoughts and went outside.
𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿. the blondie waited in his assigned seat, looking at the door. she should've been here by now.. maybe she's in a different class? midoriya sits beside him, noticing his 'friend' staring at the door with a confused expression.
"are you okay?" he asked. he faced him, "you remember that girl from last year?" midoriya tilted his head. "what girl?" "the darkskin girl with red eyes like mines, dummy." katsuki rolled his eyes.
"oh! yeah i remember her, why?" he asked. he shook his head, facing back to the front. katsuki used to bully sanaii for the same reasons others do it, cause she read books.
in second grade, she would even bring them with her to recess if she didn't feel like playing. the minute katsuki saw her at recess, sitting underneath the slide with a book in her hand, he thought of her as a pushover.
i mean, who in the hell brings a book to a place where you're supposed to have fun? that's what katsuki thought. but once he started to bully her about it, calling her a nerd, she stood up for herself.
that was something that katsuki wasn't used to. most people would cry or run away, or cower in fear, so katsuki was intrigued by her boldness.
but his mother thought it was completely something different. based off of what her son told her, his heart beating faster, palms sweating profusely, stumbling over words, it was obvious that he liked her.
of course he refused to believe it, he was one of those kids that thought girls had cooties, a damn shame. the teacher introduced herself and started calling attendance.
"sanaii harlow?" "she moved, miss." somebody answered for her, making katsuki's heart stop.
she.. moved? why didn't she say anything? i couldn't even tell her what i was.. supposed to in time.. the boy looked down at his shoes, regretting not telling her about his feelings.
