Chapter 16 - Oath

The preparations for the baby shower function of Anamika was going in full flow. Sunaina, Anamika's mother came two weeks earlier of the function to spend some time with her daughter, especially during her pregnancy time. Although she has only one daughter and no son due to her husband's untimely death, she is glad to have a son-in-law like Pratap who treated her like his mother.

For the past few years, Sunaina was afraid of Pratap getting remarried since Anamika was not able to give a heir. As an experienced woman, she knows that Pratap's resolve to not get remarried will be broken if Anamika couldn't give a heir. And now, she got relieved on her fear regarding her daughter's happiness.

Sunaina was welcomed by Ranasa, Ranisa and Yuvraj. Later Yuvraj guided her towards Anamika's chamber who couldn't welcome her mother due to her baby bump. Once they entered Anamika's bedroom, Anamika tried to get up and hug her mother but she was not able to do that. So Sunaina went near her bed and hugged her daughter.

Both mother and daughter cried in each other's embrace. Sunaina with happiness for her daughter whereas Anamika, on seeing her mother whose dead face she saw in her previous lifetime. Afterall it's everyone's wish to see our dear dead ones alive. Along with all these thoughts, Anamika's pregnancy hormones didn't do any help at all.

All this time, Pratap was looking at them both awkwardly. Sunaina composed herself after sometime and got out of their embrace. Anamika looked at her mother with tears still flowing from her eyes. Sunaina said, "Congratulations Anamika! You are finally going to be a mother and this kingdom will get a heir".

Anamika smilingly replied, "Congratulations to you too Maasa (mother) on becoming a grandmother". Anamika knew how much taunts her mother faced in their relatives circle due to her inability to conceive, while she already was outlasted most of the times for being a widow. Seems like they don't need to wait for karma this time, rather they could give it back to them by themselves.

Pratap intervened them and said to Sunaina, "Ranisa, you two spend sometime till dinner. I will check preparations in the guest room for you". Saying this he was about to go out when Anamika yelled, "No, Maasa you please stay with me in this room only". Hearing this Pratap's eyes almost popped out of their sockets.

Sunaina refused her politely saying, "No Anamika. I need some rest and if you need help in the middle of night then I may not be able to wake up. So it would be better if Yuvraj stays with you". Anamika reluctantly nodded and then Pratap left their chamber.

Once he was out, Sunaina scolded Anamika softly, "Anamika, don't be ignorant. Yuvraj wants to spend all the available time with you. And here you are separating him yourself". Anamika sighed at that since she knew that whatever her mother said is correct. Afterall, hereafter even if she gets pregnant, he won't be with her all the time due to his expedition. He doesn't say much about his feelings vocally but his actions speak louder.

He wants to cherish every single moment now itself so that he won't have regrets later. Like massaging her feet at nights thinking that she slept, Decorating the children nursery by himself while not allowing her to see, and above all, even though her food which they themselves prepare, is tested by maid before she eats, Yuvraj himself will eat the first morsel after which he will feed Anamika. Ranasa doesn't know that Yuvraj is testing her food by himself because he wouldn't allow that.

Thinking about him, automatically a smile came on her face, which her mother noticed and said, "Always be happy my child. I will pray to god everyday that no evil eyes catch up on your happiness". They spent sometime together till dinner, in which her mother helped Anamika. Sunaina left the chamber without even having dinner as she doesn't want to intrude in their private time. Later Yuvraj came to their chamber and they both had dinner together.

When they both entered their bedroom, Pratap pulled Anamika near him before she got to bed. He wrapped his hands around her waist tightly yet carefully as to not hurt her and said, "So you didn't want to spend time with me? ". While saying this, he was tucking some hair strands behind her ears which made it difficult for her to speak. "N.. No Pratap. It.. It's not like that. I just missed my mother. Nothing else", saying this Anamika looked down as she was not able to hold his deep gaze.

He kissed her forehead and remained like that for a few seconds before parting as he had to control himself as they were not in a position to have physical intimacy at this stage.  How much ever she may glow or how much ever she looks ravishing with her cute baby bump. Finally he said, "You better stay with me. Understood? ". Anamika nodded her head, following which he removed his hands and guided her to bed.

After helping her to lay on the bed, Pratap was about to move to the other side of the bed, when Anamika pulled him by his shirt collar, which he is yet to remove. He almost landed on her but prevented it by placing his hands on either side of her. Before he could understand the situation, Anamika placed her lips on his and gave a passionate kiss. She was fully dominating the kiss and atlast left him when they felt out of breath.

He was simply looking at her when she said, "Now Understood". Pratap could only utter, "Huh". She could read his feelings which he tried to hide. Then they both slept by Pratap hugging her from behind but not before he equalized their scores by kissing her to his heart's content.

Soon the day of baby shower came and Anamika was getting ready with the help of maids. Pratap entered the chamber after getting ready in his own chamber. The maids went away from there after seeing him. Anamika was sitting in front of the mirror and Pratap went near her. Both were looking at each other for sometime and then Anamika stood up and turned towards him.

"You look beautiful", Pratap uttered while reminiscing their wedding as she got ready like a bride today. "Don't lie. I'm not looking beautiful with all the fat", Anamika complained with a pout. Although she told it childishly, Pratap recognized her insecurities. "Hmm, somewhere you are right. Even while coming here many girls from the guests were looking at me. May be I should marry another one", Pratap said jokingly while pretending to think. Anamika got stiffened at his words and tears got formed automatically. May be pregnancy hormones.

All the negative thoughts were flooding her mind. Pratap instantly realized his mistake and cursed himself for joking on such a sensitive issue. He immediately hugged her which brought her attention back on him. He parted away from her and said, "Today I'm saying this for the last time. I will never ever marry anyone else beside you".

Anamika didn't look convinced but suddenly he moved his hands which were holding her shoulders till now towards her bulging stomach. Anamika looked at him with wide eyes while he looked at her and said, "And this is my oath on my daughter".

They both were looking into each others' eyes, Anamika with an overwhelming happiness and Pratap with determination. Suddenly Pratap's eyes widened and Anamika let out a gasp. Because the babies kicked. Pratap chuckled and said, "Seems like my children are warning me to keep my words", all the while caressing her bump. Anamika replied, "May be they are happy with your promise".

Pratap denied and said, "No. It's an Oath because Promises are meant to be broken".
