"I can't believe you let me down but the proof is in the way it hurts." ~ Sam Smith

"Do you like to sing, or play violin, or piano more?" Charlie questioned. We were sitting on a towel in the sand. We were leaning back on our elbows, just talking for a little bit. Sadie and the boys were here too, they just went off on some voyage somewhere. I wasn't feeling up to the walk or whatever they're doing - mainly because of my knee - so Charlie just stayed here with me.

"Honestly," I started. "Violin. I get in my own world and I just play however I want. I close my eyes, and completely block out every little thing surrounding me."

"Will you play for me by the end of the summer?" He asked.

"Possibly," I shrugged. I didn't really want to, but if he was really persuasive then I guess that I could.

"I like your singing voice," Charlie told me.

"Thank you," I smiled. "I like singing a lot, I just don't have as much of a passion for it."

We sat in silence for a couple of minutes. We stared off down the beach and at the salty waves that crashed down onto the sand.

"My favorite person to cover is Sam Smith. I'm in basically the same octave and key as him, so I don't have to alter very much. And, for some songs he has acoustic versions which allow me to play piano and sing at the same time," I rambled.

"Sam Smith?" He clarified.

"He's amazing," I nodded. "I'm gonna show you something that I have never shown anybody, ever."

"I'm excited," He laughed.

"You should be," I giggled. I went onto my phone and opened one of my locked apps. I typed in the password, logged into my account, and went to my feed. I published videos of me on here, but it's not the most common app so the chances of somebody seeing them that I know isn't extremely common.

"I'll show you a Sam Smith cover," I noted. I scrolled through my page, looking for one. I chose my Money on my Mind cover and pulled it up. "This one is kind of awkward because I couldn't play piano for it, so I was kind of just sitting there not doing anything, but yeah."

I played the video and we watched it.

"Emily, this is so good," He told me.

"Thanks," I replied.

Once around a minute and a half of the video passed, Sadie ran up from behind me and leaped onto my shoulders. "What are you guys watching?"

"Nothing!" I responded quickly, exiting out of the app and locking my phone.

"I wanna know!" She whined.

"Maybe someday," I said.

"Know what?" Zach asked, sitting on the towel next to Sadie's.

"They're keeping secrets from us," Sadie replied.

"It's just that they're hooking up and not telling anybody. I've known about it," Brandon said, also sitting down.

"It was a one time thing," I lied, blushing like crazy.

"Wait, what?" Sadie squealed. "How did I not know about this?"

"It was one night, we were drunk," Charlie replied.

"It was the afternoon, and I'm pretty sure you weren't drunk," Brandon chuckled.

"Shut up, Brandon!" I covered my face with my hands.

"So the two of you are hooking up, and B is the only one who knew?" Zach declared.
