the sun was setting, giving the sky the most beautiful shades as you drove to the apartment.

as you recalled the conversation you had with your old cousin, how he arranged an apartment for you with a room mate since your old house owner were kicking you out because their daughter was coming home from abroad , and when you were worried the room mate being a guy, your cousin reassured you about his sexuality, "his preference is different.... nothing for you to worry about." he had said.

it was a temporary arrangement, for six months only. you'd move to another place as soon as you found one, but this was great, as far as you'd heard, plus it was close to the school you taught.

reaching the flats, you remembered the apartment number being '216' you picked up a box and made your way to the elevator.  you got tired only by thinking about the number of rounds it would take to get all the boxes. the elevator door opened and you stepped inside. anticipation sets in your heart that very moment, this was it, you're gonna meet the guy you'd live with for the next six months. what kind of person he'd be. being busy with all the sudden moving, you never thought about what kind of person you'd be living with.

the door opened and you walked out, you searched for the number 216, standing in front of it, you let out a deep breath before gently knocking it. you waited for a few moments and no answer came so u knocked a little louder but it was interrupted by the door moving further away from you, someone opene-

"i am sorry to disturb your sleep." damn, he must be sleeping, this poor guy still have his eye mask on but damn is he freakishly tall. you thought to yourself.

"what makes you think i was sleeping?" his voice sounded no where being sleepy. you wanted to say since hes wearing that eye mask but it felt weird so you closed your eyes and shook your head, confused.

the box felt heavier and you couldn't wait to get in and put the box down.
"um..the flatemate?...." you lift up your box in hopes he'd notice and let you in before it fell down.

"oh," he cleared his way and looked out the hallway as you walked in, "so is he coming now?"

"who?" you put the box down and straightened your back.

"the flatmate?" he was out the hallway now.

" I am the flatmate."  you put your hands on your waist, confused.

"wai- but you're a girl." his voice sounded confused but you couldn't be sure, his eyes weren't showing.

"i know?" why was he stating the obvious?

"i was never told you were a girl." he closed the door but didn't move forward.

"oh- but don't worry i know about your type. its no big deal." honestly it wasnt a big deal living with someone who was ga-

"my type?" he rubbed his chin.

"handsome?" he tilted his head.

he looked absolutely ridiculous with his gym clothes, white hair and that eye mask and the audacity to call himself handsome- weird was the correct word.

"yeah..... okay." you didn't wanna argue with a tree when you had loads of boxes to bring up.

"I'll be right back."  you took a step forward and waited for him to move aside.

catching your message he did move what seemed like his wobbly legs aside, "how many are these?" he pointed at the boxes.

"4 more."
