Mildred's POV:"Thank you for a lovely evening." Lana broke the silence as the two women came to a halt outside of the younger woman's room.
Mildred smiled a genuine smile, probably the first real one since arriving in Lucia. "You are more than welcome." She paused for a moment, gaze faltering as she looked down at their hands brushing against one another. "Maybe we can do it again some time?" Her voice was quiet, a light shade of pink dusting her cheeks. She felt like a teenager coming home from a first date, blushing and riddled with butterflies.
"Absolutely." Lana responded, taking ahold of Mildred's hand and softly stroking her thumb over her knuckles. The warmth of Lana's palm against her own was comforting, and she felt herself getting lost for a moment before lifting her gaze to meet Lana's earthy brown eyes that glittered underneath the light.
Mildred failed to hide the happiness she felt as her cheeks began to ache by how much she was smiling, forced to bite down on her lower lip to keep herself grounded. Mildred had only ever felt this way once, back when she was a teenager with her first love, Diana. After what happened, she swore she'd never feel that way again, about anybody. Yet here she was, prolonging her departure because she wasn't ready for the night to end.
"Well," Mildred broke the silence, chuckling softly like a carefree school girl, waiting for a kiss to end the night. Why was she so nervous around Lana? How things had changed since the younger woman's arrival. She didn't expect Lana to last a day at Lucia State hospital yet here she was. Mildred hated more than anything to be proven wrong, but in this instance she was more than happy to let it slide.
"I guess I will see you tomorrow." She smiled softly, and she hated to admit how much she was hoping Lana would invite her into her room. The thought had crossed Mildred's mind numerous times throughout the night but she didn't want to give Lana the wrong impression.
Lana nodded before slowly closing the distance between them. Mildred froze mid gasp as her eyes fluttered closed, breathing in the sweetness of Lana's perfume. Soft, gentle, delicate, tentative, slowly moving in unison creating the perfect rhythm. Anyone could walk out of their room and see them, two women kissing, but Mildred in that moment didn't care if Dr Hanover himself strolled into the motel and caught them.
When the kiss was broken, both women were left slightly breathless and dizzy. Lana's tongue briefly swiped over her lips, claiming Mildred's attention. That small act made the muscles in her abdomen contract.
"Goodnight Mildred." Lana breathed out in an almost inaudible whisper as she unlocked the door to her room. Hesitating for a moment, as though thinking of inviting Mildred inside but before she could the older woman bid her goodnight before heading to her own room.

Lana's POV:
Lana couldn't remember the last time she'd had this much fun or the last time she felt so strongly for someone. Mildred really was an extraordinary woman, so much more compassionate and carefree to the woman that greeted her when she first arrived. For the entire night she couldn't stop smiling, laughing as the two shared stories and got to know each other a little better.
"Goodnight Mildred." She fumbled to unlock her door with trembling hands. Hesitating because she didn't want to let Mildred go back to her room, she so badly wanted to invite her inside. The only reason she didn't was because evidence of Lana's true identity and her true motives for being at the hospital lay scattered around the room.
