"You never told me you had friends." Cynthia said, loosening her grip on Connor.
Connor shrugged, "It never came up."
Cynthia scoffed, "yea right, like I haven't been asking you how your day was, or if you'd made any friends, and everytime you responded with, 'fine, and no'" she had folded her arms.
Connor felt uncomfortable, why were parents so scary? He had tensed up and was trying his best not to make eye contact with his mom.
Cynthia sighed, "I am happy you're making friends though." she smiled, and she swore she saw Connor's expression brighten, "and I'm sure your father would too."
Connor tensed again. His mom didn't know what she was saying, Larry didnt give 2 shits about Connor. Still, he didn't feel like arguing with his mom right now so he just nodded and said,
"Yea,"
With that, Connor headed inside the house. This time, his mom followed and locked the door behind her. As soon as he got inside he raced up the stairs to his room before anyone in the house caught him smiling like an idiot.
He closed the door to his room and jumped onto his bed. Still smiling. He had a hard time believing everything had just happened. It seemed way to good to be true. Suddenly, doubt filled his brain. He sat up straight (ew gross), a perplexed look on his face. Jared and Evan pulling a prank on him seemed unlikely, but not impossible.
[bzzt bzzt]
His phone went off. He reached into his pocket and pulled it out. Checking the notification.
